I made some more progress last week. PRI and a busy weekend kept me from posting the biggest news. I actually got to fire it up Thursday night about 10:30pm.

I upgraded a new set of DSS resplined wheel bearings with ARP wheel studs and 09+ Z06 CV axles. I would have went with a set of DSS CV axles as well but they are a little out of the budget at the moment. I haven't gotten a chance to tear the rear suspension apart to sand blast and micro polish it yet. So it is still a little crusty.

Here is the lit up dash the second I connected the battery the fist time. It was awesome to actually get to open and close the doors for the first time with the buttons.

And here is the moment I have been waiting almost 2 years for!!!! Don't mind lack of oil pressure. The connector wasn't fully plugged in.

Very nice work.
Just curious - Is there any advantage of the DSS wheel bearings over SKF?

Thanks!

I went with the DSS wheel bearings because they have been resplined for the larger outer axle splines of the 09+ CV axles.

Hey Jeremy, Geoff from LMR. Real testimate to your dedication there buddy. Also I have to say. The shop........ Is like an operating room. Must make it easier to focus when there isn't crap everywhere. Nice work!! I'm all kinds of jelly on the micro polished suspension pieces.

I so have an update for you guys. Be easy on me. I know the paint is rough. It will be getting painted here in a few. Putting the front end together on the car went pretty quickly. Getting the hood on by myself was tricky without tearing it up.

Installing the front bumper took a little work since it has been sitting in my upstairs bedroom for almost 2 years. But it straightened out pretty good and fit well.

Now the LG Motorsports carbon fiber front splitter has been installed. It went on easy and fit perfect.

Here is the first time the car has ever been on his own 4 wheels with an engine in it since I have owned it.

I cant wait to get my brakes on it and get it tuned! The brakes will be installed this week and everything should be pretty much finished as far as the major stuff goes. I ordered all new fender flairs and wheel opening plastics. They will be hear next week. Im glad the car has a good stance. I had no idea how it was going to sit with the engine in it.

Looks perfect...it may settle after a bit though. Especially after driving.

I love these detailed build threads. It really highlights the many facets involved in a build.
For those of us who shuffle TPS reports around these threads are really boner inspiring.
Grats on the Z.

That's absolutely awesome work! Definitely something to be proud of. So are you sticking with those wheels for it, or doing a different wheel as well after you paint it? And is it safe to assume you're keeping the original silver color as well? Fantastic work man!

It's been a little while since I updated the thread. I have been waiting on a few things that have taken a while. Had a few panels painted just to make the car look decent for the time being till I can paint the whole car. I've also been waiting on my calipers to be powder coated. Here are some more pictures of the progress.

Man, the details in your work are what is going to separate that beast from all the others. Absolutely killer job! Makes me want to empty my bank account on mine! I gotta stop looking at this before my wife leaves me! Lol!

Nice job! It's been about 40 years since I raced Corvettes and worked on them to this extent. Now I just enjoy driving them but your photos sure brought back some memories!
