I was looking to buy a used truck recently and was hard pressed to find one that got better gas mileage than my Z06. I ended up with a 4 cylinder ford ranger that averages about 24mpg.

Z06 gets 16mpg mixed driving (mostly city), and 28-30mpg highway driving. I've got an intake, tune, and fixed heads. And I don't drive slow

Well reading some of these posts it would seem like I have some issues.
Cause I have 580whp and read some guys are getting 13mpg or even around 20mpg.

I will have to work out mine again but if I am not mistaken I am getting
7.96mpg and that is with a bit of city driving mixed in with a little highway. Might have given it a tingle a couple times but other than that it gets driven normally.

I thought it was normal having that much power but reading the posts here has me thinking otherwise. The gauge almost moves when watching it.

Is there a way I can check how rich it is running without a WB O2? Will an OBD link give me a good idea of A/F ratio or not?

Do Dyno shops have WB O2 sensors they chuck into the tail pipe?

Looks like I need to get this looked at. The DIC is not accurate and way off I think. Should pull a plug and check.

That's still pretty good.

My C3 only got 3-4 mpg.

New member here and love scouring old threads such as this. Being 2022 gas prices as well as used car prices are thru the roof. Having a Hyundai Elantra hybrid that easily gets 50mpg (speed limit of 55-65) and 38-44 mpg hitting 90mph for daily comnutes between 120-250 miles a day.......while I know and fully understand folks don't buy Vettes for their thrifty fuel economy or oh so comfortable and well built interiors (C5/C6), it's nice to know these cars can get pretty impressive numbers. Most hybrids barely peak 40. Anyways, my previous car was a 2016 Cadillac CTS VSPORT awd which ran 93 and averaged 24-30mpg....cruising and a spirited 130mph when passing just because I like the wind in my hair lol. I've been watching the classifieds for a C5z06 but dislike the trunk space. Now I'm watching everything I can "C6" on YouTube. Prefer a 08+ just because LS3. However.....this post has made me moist thinking I can get anything above 25mpg from the massive LS7. I reckon I'll keep saving and wait for prices to come back to reality and then jump at a C6 Z06 making sure the known issues have already been remedied.

One other thing , it's rather odd seeing folks here comment only using "dic" or hand calculated. Again, most of yall don't care how many gallons your car consumes but I've always hand calculated and compared to dash. Different cars read differently. My Hyundai states 57 when its only 49 and my Cadillac would usually run 1-2mpg lower. For those that do want to be a little more frugal, YouTube search "Ecco Vette"....the guy tunes his engine to run slightly leaner at highway rpms. I have no clue if that's good, bad, or any different in the long run but passing the information along either way. He averaged 40mpg, I think in a ls2 platform though.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe anyone buys an LS7 powered anything for fuel efficiency!! That said, in my LS7 powered C5, equipped with an A4 and 3.42 diff, I get about 21-22mpg, if I'm on the highway. When I get off the freeway, mileage drops faster than the stock market after hearing the Fed is raising interest rates!!! YMMV.......

The fuel efficiency and low rpm top gear cruising are nice bonuses. My Z06 is a Prius compared to my CTS-V!

Lean tuning may be 'OK' for LS/3, not so good for LS7.
This info by-way of my builder Wegner Motorsports Engineering.
FWIW WME build engines for NooseCar.

In any event my formula's simple.
Driven w/ respect can coax 27 MPG *highway*.
Get-on it all bets are off easily putting a classic 426 Hemi to shame.

Good thing I'm an old goat who enjoys driving her w/ 'respect'. LOL
