No idea, didn't look that closely. Looked fine when I glanced at it when I got home, didn't notice anything bent our out of place.

Just got my recall last week for my '08' Z. Was out of town at that time but will check with my Chevy dealer this week for parts availability and estimated down time. I to would also like to wait for it if possible. I do agree that there are some dealers out there that may not be up to snuff on Vettes, but not all like some like here on the forum like to believe. I think it goes hand and hand with how many they sell and how many qualified techs they have on hand. Low volume dealers maybe one if any, verses high volume dealer who have maybe several. Just my own opinion.

Just got mine as well; not sure I'll do anything with it now. Maybe talk to my local dealer and couple that with my next oil change...which could be a while since I only change the oil once a year (~2500 miles).

Like many, I don't trust the dealer either and while the 1/2 _SS JUMP WIRE doesn't seem (To me anyway.) to have anything to do with HID's, it could become, IMO a gray area. Anybody know more than me or cmb396?

Definitely.

It doesn't sound like they are fixing it the "right" way, which would be with a redesigned replacement fuse box.

Sounds to me like GM engineers are reading the CF again, saw the posts from our members that figured out the bad link could be jumpered, copied and pasted what they posted into a doc with GM letterhead, called it another successful work day!
I agree with the second paragraph.

In hindsight, there has been a few times at night, when I believe my low beams flickered on/off/on. So quickly, your concern is gone in a second, but a concern never the less. (2007 with 14,000 miles, 560 RWHP and all kinds of PHAT mods.)

There is no grey area on this one, the problem is real and well documented.

Yes, it will impact the operation of your aftermarket (or stock) HID's. This is a wiring issue inside the fuse box.

You can wait until (if) it fails, do it yourself, or have the dealer do it (I am going to wait and see if mine fails, if so, I will perform the repair).

I got my letter a week ago (mid year 2009 MY build). Fortunately for me, there are a few good Chevrolet dealers in my area, so I"ll have it done at a dealership in the spring.

Took my car in this morning and waited on it, maybe 1 1/2 hours. Spent the time chatting with the guys and looking at a new Z06. No big deal

I am sure that the problem is real and documented but my experience with automotive recalls is that some issues do not happen to every vehicle. A recall may occur because X% of vehicles have an issue, not necessarily 100%. I had a recall last year about the cam bolts coming lose on my 2012 Lexus IS350 F Sport-that kind of recall can not be messed with. This headlight issue can certainly wait and see, especially since it only effects the low beam (not the high beams) and the fog lights are unaffected-if the low beams give out, there is certainly a fallback plan to get the car home .

Here's the recall bulletin with a description of the repair and instructions on how to do it. It's a little different than the DIY repair posted here.

EXCELLENT! Thanks!

I have mad soldering skillz, so no worries there.. I guess they didn't want to mess with cracking the fuse box open.

Default headlight recall

I got the recall letter for my 2012 GS last week, was in dealer (Freeland Chevrolet) today for unrelated warranty work, and had the headlight repair done, too. Took less than an hour for the headlight repair. All work done properly, and was good experience.

BTW: the other repair was for the windshield molding "buzz" issue. Dealer repaired per the tech bulletin, and the pesky buzz is gone!

This is not making a whole lot of sense. Page 1 of the recall bulletin clearly says 2005-2007 Corvette. Is this not a problem for Corvettes 2008 and above ?

It is only on the early 08's....Call a dealer and give them the last 8 numbers of your vin number and it will show if yours is involved.

I just received this recall notice for my 2007 Z06. However I have an ECS supercharger kit installed in my car and the BAP (boost a pump) has been wired into the fuse box. I'm afraid of them messing with that wiring while trying to fix this recall...Hmmm.

I noticed that discrepancy as well….My guess is that the 2005-07 were the years targeted for the recall and either GM or DOT decided that all years C6 should be involved as a precaution...

Find a dealer that isn't a jackass. My car has nothing stock besides the fuse box but the dealer that did mine had me in and out in 20 minutes. No issues.

Robert, bring it by the dealership I work at. I can keep an eye on it for you. I was fortunate enough to 'assist" in the completion of my recall.
