No. I had mine disconnected for a month and they still work fine.

I some how ended up with something like this made a long time ago, uses what I guess is reject vbelt material for the strap. One of the best tools I have.

I got the AutoZone Gold Battery for my 09Z a couple months ago and am pleased with it.

Tips:

Get a battery strap ($4-5) to pull out the OEM battery as the battery gets hung up on the disconnected cables and the battery box lip unless you really enjoy getting your knuckles bloody. The new AZ battery will have a small strap and the factory battery retainer strap works fine. The AZ battery has a vent in the proper place to hold the OEM vent tube.

If you have a small trickle charger that will plug into the lighter plug, use that and you won't lose any of your settings.

While the battery is out, tape the bottom end of the tie down posts so they don't slip out of the holes, it will save you fishing time.

Don't forget to do the window re-index process.

I bent up a metal hanger to get mine out. Worked great.

If he uses a trickle charger connected to the lighter outlet, there will be no need to reindex, reset pre-set stations or redo preferences.

Yes, if he does that.. Most people don't, but they probably should.

Best way for me.

Vise grip to each battery terminal is the easiest way to pull it out.

The window re-index is a must also.

I let my battery die last winter and the window would not roll up all the way after recharging it for about two days. What do you all mean by re indexing the window?

I used some straps of duct tape to pull the battery out. Quick and easy.

just changed mine and only had to re-index the windows, radio and all settings were not affected. Battery strap is definately needed, or strong duct tape to make a handle.

After changing the battery, start the car and pull up on each window button 3 times and hold for a few seconds. Do that twice for each side and they will re-index.
