Default best street tires that grip?

Ok i have stock gy run flats currently on my Z and when I do 2nd gear 30 plus rolls I spin, spin, spin and can't hook up. This is for my Mexico runs and I've lost to several cars bc of traction issues. I dont track my car and it has basic bolt ons. My question is what is the best all season widest tire I can get that will perform well when having fun as well as useable in the rain?

As always your appreciation is appreciated thanks.

GYs are horrible. Not an all-season but the Michelin Super Sports are awesome in the rain and get good traction and I run them year round in the SE, leap years ahead of the GY.

My car does really well on Nitto NT05-R's. I can clutch it in 2nd if I wanted to and as long as its not too cold outside it hooks 2nd all the way up. Car is H/C/I/E85. Obviously not the very best tire in the rain but I don't have issue as long as I drive slower than normal and not like an idiot.

The PSS's are fine for bolt-ons, but with HCI, they behave much like the GY's! Ask me how I know....

I'm picking up some NT05R's, as I don't drive in the rain.

Had NT05s before, spun 1-2-3. Had to rolling burnouts for 10 seconds just to hook 2nd, still spun shifting into 3rd. Now on R888s, can dead hook 1st after just goosing 1st gear. Amazing tire!

I use the NT05R's and they do OK for a full size street tire that looks stock and fits on the stock 19" rims. They seem to wear OK and like was said before I would not use them in the rain very much.

The NT05 and NT05R are totally different tires so keep that in mind.

Lol if you can hook an R888 because those tires are not that great and I know from experience. Good street/road race tire but not even close to an NT05-R when it comes to straight line traction. I can spin an R888 through 3rd no problem.

I'm guessing your referring to the standard NT05 tire.

Just got my Michelin P285/30R19s PSS ZPs from Tire Rack to replace my front OEM PS2s on the ZR1 at 25,400 miles. The rear PS2s look like they will easily make 30k or more. I will buy PSS ZPs for the rear when I need them next year. The PS2s are far better and longer lasting than the GY SCs I had on my 06Z06. Now it appears that the PSS tires are better than the PS2s and are the OEM tires for the C7s. Fortunately my ZR1 uses the same size tires and wheels as the new C7 Z06 so production of PSS should extend well into the future. Not so sure about the PS2.

Really? Are you making 2000WHP? Cause the TTG guys (1000-1800RWHP all day) are using R888s with good results... maybe you are running improper PSI

And yes I wrote NT05, not NT05R. I haven't tried those but heard the soft sidewall mitigates cornering ability

R888s on the street are like having 4 angels sent from heaven on your car.....just got to watch yourself in rain and cold temps.

I for one am looking forward to trying Sport Cup 2 ZPs this summer.

Less than 600 rwhp. R888 in 19's don't work that well IMO compared to the NT05-R's for street driving and I have tried both. NT05-R's are only unstable in corners when the PSI is on the lower side. Run them at 30 psi and they do just fine and did not get unstable on me above 170 mph and in the corners. R888 wins in the cornering department though but straight line not soo much... Both good tires but the R888's do spin much easier on my car.

The links you posted are on an AWD car. Apples to Oranges...

I have the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position RFT, for a run flat tire I have been very pleased with them.

Straight line, nt05R
Straight line with more emphasis on twisties, R888
If you are willing to go down a size or two on wheels, then that opens other options too.

Both can be driven in the rain, just take it easy. Now if you see a lot of rain, you may want something a bit more all seasons (or buy a second car).

Drove to the 1/2 mile in the rain on my Mickey Thompsons no issues at all, just kept it <60mph.

Pilot Sport PS2 ZP from Michelin

The R888 and NT01 while can be driven on the street are, in reality, R-compound tires
