Default WCCH K501 Build

I bought my 2006 Z06 about 3 months ago, 37k miles, stone stock. After much reading and research on this forum I decided to go with WCCH for their Stage 2 package. I sent WCCH my factory heads along with Ti/Mo intake valves, new OEM exhaust valves, PSI springs, Ti retainers, new seats/seals. I got a K501 cam, LG 1 7/8 LTs, off-road, factory mufflers, a Halltech MF108, and I'm eyeing the new MSD intake manifold.

The car was making an intermittent rocker kind of noise, often described on the forum. My personal wiggle test of the #4 intake told me that it was definitely moving around the most. I paid WCCH to perform a guide measurement, I received the results yesterday. Please let me know your thoughts.

Looks like many others I have seen. Good thing you got it done.

Nice choice on parts. You're doing it right. It will be a monster when you're done.

Jason,

Thank you for your advice, and entertaining my 20 questions on the phone. Your advice and research data made me very confident in the Katech/WCCH package. I'm looking forward to getting it back together and to Redline Motorsports for a tune.

I will post dyno results and some in car action to this thread once I am done.

Josh

It was all stock, never on the dyno. 37k miles. I'll post results in a month or so once it is back together.

Nice.

When it came to the cylinder heads, what valve guides did you go with?

Milling the heads? Same setup I'm doing once I get my finances together. Hopefully within the next few weeks. And having my local machine shop do the guides/milling/porting.

I got my heads back from WCCH. Ti/Mo intake, new OEM exhaust, PSI spring, Ti retainer, milled .030. Here are a couple pictures.

Thanks for the pictures. It's interesting the CNC machine actually skips some areas.

I was really interested in the same thing, I looked at each port noting how consistent the skipped areas were from runner to runner. WCCH did some nice work on these. The odd thing is that my heads were cast with an "08", and my car is a 2006.

I don't think WCCH gave me a different set of heads, I think that my car had the heads replaced at some point by the original owner

From you original post, you made it sound like the wiggle and guide measurements were after WCCH did the work. Six intakes and 2 exhausts out of spec and a couple others close.

I am assuming those were the measurements before they did the work?

Nice setup. I'm doing basically the same except having my local machine shop do the work. Parts should be here today!

Definitely! From everything I have read, and from videos, the K501 seems ideal. Once I receive the MSD intake I'll have it back together, I'm hoping the K501 and the MSD are well-suited for each other. I have a MSD intake on backorder from Summit.
