I have been trackinig the valve guide issue and repairs for quite some time. Today I finally decided to have the test done on my 09Z (21K miles). The car is not tracked but does get exercised on occassion. The test was done by one of our local vette specialist. He is very familiar with the problem and has done several head replacements and engine replacements due to the guide issue. Based on his previous experience, he had prepared me for the worst. However he was surprised and glad to report to me that all the clearances (intake and exhaust) were less than .002" He stopped after checking 6 of 8 cylinders due to the consistency of the measurements. Bottom line, I guess I got a good set of heads or haven't driven it hard enough. Either way, it is a load of my mind and my GMPP continues to go unused. Not a bad thing!
