Default Heads and Cam build

Well, Spring is hopefully around the corner and my car has been in hibernation since October. I've just been using the winter to research parts and what not. I currently have headers, x-pipe, Borla ATAKS and an Airaid intake, but I knew I wanted to address the head issue. So I might as well as get some more pep out of it while it's apart. Here's the list of parts that I'm replacing. I'm not looking for a max effort build, hence the exclusion of a ported intake manifold and throttle body. Still gotta keep the wife happy and make sure it's something she can still drive!

I have my appointment in 2 weeks with Doug Rippie Motorsports, who will be doing the work since it's the nearest shop to me being only 8 hours away, not that that's a bad thing!

American Heritage Performance Package #4 Head - Hardened PM guides, Ferrea Competition Plus Exhaust Valves F2042P, BTR dual valve springs w/ Titanium retainers, milled .020"

ATI Super Damper Harmonic Balancer

Black Mamba Cam

HINSON C7-R Timing Chain

Johnson 2110 slow leakdown rate lifters - Used in Chevy's 2014 COPO Camaros

All new GM and BTR gaskets

Yep, DRM will do the labor and tune. I'm not expecting serious power as we only have 91 octane available up here. But the added power will still be a blast.

That was me in the back seat of an F-15D

I was hitching a ride.

The C/D models don't have a RIO/WSO.

Sounds like a good setup. Only thing I would change is mill them .030" instead of .020"

I would agree with UNREAL and mill them .030. That is what I did with mine and we are at 4500 ft elevation and it works well with the increase in compression.

I thought about that and asked Kohle on his opinion about that since we only have 91. Might not be to late to ask for that change...

Meathead only has 91 too. Compared to my non-milled car it took 1 degree less timing but made 30+rwhp. Worst case you back timing off 1 or 1/2 a degree.

I would do the PSI 1511 Springs along with the Titanium Retainers, that tested well in the Spintron Testing and is what I chose when AHP did my heads.

How aggressive was your cam?

He recommended beefier dual BTR's due to how aggressive the cam was. The cam specs are more aggressive than the Torquer that was used in the spintron.

Black Mamba is huge compared to a torque.

I wouldn't run either. I would call carlos and get whatever springs he recommends for that cam, springs he has tested and uses. Maybe he recommends the BTR springs, but I would let the cam person spec the springs, not the head person.

I forgot you are doing a cam, I am running a stock cam in mine.

I talked to Carlos. That's the setup that he sells and recommends.

Perfect.

I know my friend Randy is running a Widow R cam, loves it. Car is stupid fast for what it has. After he dropped a valve he did the cam with stock exhaust manifolds because he couldn't swing headers at the same time and still made 550rwhp.

I recall seeing that you had the mamba before you went FI. How'd you like it?

No issues, loved it. Drove great, made great power, sounded mean. I'm not a huge cam for sound person, but everyone loved it. I would have gone slightly tamer on the idle, other than that, it was a good running cam.

Alvin, they had to send my heads out so that put me back a few days. I was told the heads would be back yesterday so I’m hoping they are on it today. I just hope they get everything right. Seems they are taking their time with it.

Ahh ok. I think I've seen that they use WCCH for their head work. Any new pictures if yours.
