Starting Issues
Done the searches and I'm still stumped.
2006 Z06 won't start. When the go button is pushed it just clicks.
It has a new Optima yellow top, with 10.5 volts on the DIC and ammeter gauge. The headlights shine brightly.
The wiring around the starter looks fine.
It jump starts OK when cables are hooked up to the battery itself. If it was bad battery cables would it start in this manner?
After jump starting the ammeter reads 14-14.5 volts and then goes down to about 13. After driving for a bit it will start for a day or so, and then won't.
Am I missing something or is my next step the Chevy dealer?

I guess it's possible it's a bad battery. Just never heard of anyone having a bad new one, especially an Optima.
I may make a trip to Autozone, the next time I jump start it, and have them use their battery/alternator test unit.

The Optimas have a high failure rate right out of the box. IMO they are the most overpriced, over rated battery out there. I've experienced it and have seen and read about many others. It sounds like you need a new battery.

Just returned from Autozone and they replaced the battery. The guy said every now and then they get a brand new one that's bad.
I will see how this one works out, but so far it starts up better than any other time I remember!
