One year after HCH..... disaster strikes,,
Last year this time I had my heads done got a new cam and Pfadt Headers on my 2010 CG Z, in January of 2014 . I went thru the summer and into fall with the car running fine.
Then one warm afternoon in December after not driving the car for 3 weeks , I tried to start it and it wouldn't, then Backfired on restart. Once It did start it was making a Clanking sound , then would stop and start again 5 mins. later now louder...... Well I ended up with a lifter broke and pieces thur the oil pump.
After conferring with my speed shop builder and the engine shop that rebuilt the heads, it was decided the engine needed completed rebuilding after a complete washing and flushing.
So after 2 and a half months in the shop I got my car back. With a fresh completely rebuilt LS7 with Balanced Crank and Forged pistons
fresh cam , Bearing , and lifters. I received it with 32 miles on the Trip B. odometer. The shop said, I've got to put at least 500 miles on it, before it gets the next Oil change, ( running some special Joe Gibbs break in oil, for now ).
Also after the oil change I'll get my first DYNO !!... I'm really excited about that. BD ( Before Disaster ) it had Dyno'ed at 548hp and about 528 Torq.
Today after a few cruises this weekend the Trip B. odometer was at 400.3 when I put it in the garage.

The lifters were Comp Cam Roller Lifter Set # ( COM 878.... not sure of # )
But here are a couple of pics to show the one lifter that failed.
That spewed metal all thru the engine and Oil pump. The #1 lifter dropped crumbs scourging the cam, # 1 Cylinder and that piston and rings.
So the new rebuild , the speed shop who pulled the engine out and did the reinstall gave me breaks on cost was good.
The Racing Engine builder who actually did the rebuilding of my LS7 let me come over and see the progress he made, Boring honing and
the block. I saw him install the Mahle forged pistons. His shop was pretty impressive. He even got Comp Cams to replace the cam.
Odometer is sitting at 419.2 miles after a nice day today, .....
she runs great ! Very quick to rev and pulls even better than before the rebuild.
Might be a month or so before I get it Dyno'ed ...... can't wait !
