Default High Mileage Z06

Would u purchase a Z with over 100k? What if it was only 26k? Besides the obvious heads issues at 26k you could put money into it and be fine right? Or is that too many miles for a 2006?

My opinion and only mine is that a car with that many miles had to be maintained properly. The cost should reflect the mileage . Tire condition is a must. 26,000 miles is a no brainer but how was it taken care of. Common sense prevails

Average mileage on cars in the US is approximately 12K miles per year. You have a 9 year old car that if it was being used as an average car would have about 108K miles on it. GM drive trains in their other vehicles can typically go 250K to 300K miles. I doubt the car spent a lot of time in city traffic so the miles are probably the best kind: Highway Miles. Other than the potential valve issue the biggest issues you would have would be the typical ones that most cars of that age and mileage have. Worn upholstery, worn/dried out suspension bushings, maybe worn out shocks if they weren't changed 20K or 30K miles ago.

There will definitely be an edge in the cylinders where the rings stopped traveling. If the engine was constantly run at low rpms (0 to 4K) you might not want to try and hit 7K with it as bad things could happen to the rings.

Buy it. Rebuild the heads and if the compression is good you will have a sweet running car for 26k.

I see what happened ............That's what we use to call "sugar miles" . Mostly highway.
