Default Hot427Z06 Coming Home

Looks great!! No more valve worries. Time to drive it like I stole it again!! I was wondering how close the Anodized Red valve cover would match the Crystal Red.

Jason please verify they installed the ATI Damper and High speed lifters.

See you Thursday.

Yes on the ATI damper and lifters. These posts are just the Cliff's Notes.

No, Kooks Headers 1 7/8 with 3" Cat. I was in a rush to get them on before the build so they have to come back off to get them coated.

Are you guys solely using the 10% under drive damper on these stage 2 packages? or is there a standard size ATI damper you use?

The ATI damper is an option. We usually use 10%UD.

Jason, you have had close to 80 cars where the heads were sent to WCCH. Could you share with the forum how many were out of spec on the value guides. Also, have you had an opportunity to measure any of your early builds for guide wear. Thanks

OP,beautiful car. Now you can really enjoy it. How many miles are on it?

The serial number sequence is for all C6 Z06 packages so some of those were stage 1s without head work. Many of them were early on before anything was known about guides. We have had some early ones come back with worn guides, but it can be hit or miss. For example Jim Painter's car came back this year for a rebuild, which has seen a lot of hard track use. I expected to see completely blown out guides. They were out of spec but not as bad as I was expecting. In the last year or so we have been saving every measurement sheet in the work order folder, but have not took the time to put together any kind of matrix. However it seems like every car that we look at now has worn out guides to some degree.

Are the heads milled? If so, how much is shaved off?

Heads were not milled because they were still flat. I like the idea of the thicker aluminium heads when at 640-650 Hp.

Jason said that a .030 milling only gains you 5 Hp but now that I see Stage 2 #80s dyno sheet I wonder? Stage 2 #80's build is identical except he has the carbon fiber heat shield and the .030 head milling.

5hp is a low low estimate. 20rwhp/20rwtq seems more like it, and it probably conservative still. IMO, the K501 needs the SCR bump to prevent torque loss down low. I would mill the heads if you have them off again, ie every 20k miles for us LS7 guys
