Default Tune after heads are fixed?

Does the LS7 need a tune after the heads are worked on/fixed?

Thanks in advance.

No only if they were milled a significant amount

What he said. Only if milling is enough to warrant a change in timing tables for the added compression.

I wouldn't worry if you just swapped the heads or had them rebuilt. I'm in the process of "fixing" mine, but also doing a cam and headers so a tune is in order. Looking forward to no more valve worries and maybe a few more horses.

Mine are milled .010 and I am getting a tune, only because I want to.

I installed aftermarket PRC265 heads(no milling, stock compression ratio) and I had to have the tune adjusted because of the difference in airflow

If stock heads are rebuilt but not ported or milled, then a tune should not be necessary.

Even then porting doesn't make a big enough difference in most cases. The maf sensor can read any additional airflow and add fuel.

The only stupid questions are the ones that don't get asked, believe that.

Thanks, but the guy is trying to troll.

He did ask a stupid (IMO) question about how to turn off the seat-belt indicator in his C7Z.

Anyone who is too "cool" for a seat-belt is a dumbass in my opinion.

Thanks for the support though.

There's no such thing as a stupid question. But, let me tell you about some replies I've heard to reasonable questions

No worries, I work in the chemical process industry and "there are no stupid questions" was one of the first things I was taught out there. Could be the difference between life and death. It definitely applies to your engine too!

I tune for everything. For me I just want to know that everything is working properly and tuned as it should be. It's purely curiosity and peace of mind for me. I know that's not the answer to the question of whether or not you "have to" but if I just had the heads done I would have it tuned without ever considering calling it good without tuning.
