Mainly track car.
No reverse lights installed in diffuser.
LED reverse lights & rear view camera above the license plate.
Openings will have black mesh covering the reverse light holes to keep the birds out and let hot air escape from the rear.

Clean car and install, do you have before and after results yet?

I just cracked the back housing off my lens and glued the lens in place. Still looks factory..

That reverse light had been burned out for no telling how long. Didn't even notice a difference.

Also what on and off temps is your switch?

I saw some on summit.

Thinking I'll do 180 on and 165 off.

Finished installation. Power is wired directly to the battery with a 30 amp inline fuse.

What is wrong with the stock cooler which seems to work very good on my car.

What are your trans temps?

I had no clue how well the factory tans cooler worked because before the latest round of mods I had no way to
Pull it up and reference easily on a drive to drive basis.

I placed mine in the rear just for the sake of more rearward weight distribution, and ease of working on the front of the car.

Then the fact that if I moved to an aftermarket radiator down the road.

I didn't have to worry about a specific model or type or a brand.

I could just pick one the size and shape I wanted.

I still don't see the advantages since most of the weight is in the rear already and you only have two light weight fluid lines going to the radiator in the front.

Well you have be weight of the lines, the weight of the fluid in them, and the weight of the fluid in the radiator.

Like I mentioned you could swap to a narrower or shorter radiator as well and decrease weight there too..

I am at the point where if I can easily remove 10lbs from the car, and not sacrifice anything. Why not do it? Or if I can move 10lbs from front to rear? Might as well.

Did you miss my question? I was curious about what your temps were with the stock cooler?

First car is not running as of today. Rebuild of engine in progress.
The reason for the new cooler is as follows:
Last summer I had a ZR1 clutch failure at Road Atlanta.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...h-failure.html

Barely missed the OEM trans cooler lines!
If the shrapnel had punctured the lines then their would have been a serious fire! I know of a another Z06 that suffered a trans cooler line failure from rubbing on the headers which resulted in a fire.
I have a DeWitts radiator and an RPM Level VI ZR1 transmission and diff that has been micro polished. Trans temps were running 225 to 260 F on track. Water temps were as high as 240 F when the ambient was close to 90F.

Moving the trans cooler to the rear puts weight over the rear tires which is needed. Removes heat load from the radiator. Removes heat transfer from the radiator to the trans fluid. Eliminates the stock trans cooler lines which run above the exhaust system and very close to the headers on the right side. The Setrab air to oil cooler with fans is more efficient then the in radiator trans cooler.
The goal is to reduce the coolant temp and transmission fluid temp at track speeds.

The C7/Z06 has moved the trans cooler to the rear fender with fans.

Great write up. Thank you, been thinking of doing exactly the same thing.

Was going to install a heat probe and see what the temps are back there if there is enough cooling air?

Does this still use the factory setup for moving the fluid or do you have an electric or pinion driven pump?
