Yes, strange combo but definitely different from the crowd. I don't have the black headlight option.

Yes, my Vette did come with a Carbon Fiber hood. It had the Carbon package. I tried to blacken out all my lights, but a CA Highway patrolman pulled me over and gave me an equipment ticket.... Had to remove the covers. Too bad, the car really looked bad *** with all the side and tail lighting blacked out !

So I have a 2013 Z07. I'd like to get rid of the 2 extra cats on the oem x pipe, whether by going aftermarket or finding an oem zr1 x pipe. "Must" I get an x pipe made for the 2013 or can I use an x pipe made for earlier years? I feel like whatever year x pipe you get, it will be the same "overall" length except the oem 2013, which is made to accommodate the extra cats.

As an alternative, what would happen if I go to any muffler shop and get rid of the x all together and just fab up 2 pipes that go straight to the mufflers?

The OEM for the '11 model year also only has the two cats instead of four.

You will have to get the year specific x-pipe since the x-pipe for your year is not the same as the earlier years. They will not match up the same.

That's why I gave you the links to the only one who make the cat less x-pipe for your year that will be a direct bolt on.

Thanks, Matt

The factory exhaust for the 2012-2013 is at the top and the 2011 is in the middle, so the power difference is due to the extra cats on the 12-13 cars.

I'm fixing that on my 2012 now.
I'm bringing in this photo. I hate to beat a dead horse but the dimensions of the earlier x-pipes look the same as the 2012+. Only difference are the addition of the cats and the positioning of the "X." So why wouldn't earlier x pipes fit? Thank you for helping me out!

The two down pipes with the cats are different on the 2012 - 2013 and attach differently - the x-pipe is totally different too in the way it attaches and is shorter -

It also does NOT have the same flanges on the X-Pipe where they attach to each other (see your picture, they are reversed)

You cannot use an earlier model X-Pipe on the later model year (2012-13), you will have to either gut your X-Pipe's cats or buy the Corsa aftermarket X-Pipe or buy the earlier model downpipes and earlier model x-pipe and install those -

Thanks,Matt

madmatt is right.

if you want to install the original 2011 x-pipe you must also install the 2011 downpipes or earlier.

I have done the 2011 retrofit.

GM changed the connections at the front of the mid-section for MY12, so, if you want to backdate your 2013 exhaust to the 2011 2-cat system, you need both the front cat assemblies (wvhich have the proper connections) and the 2011 mid-section which is the only one with an X-pipe and no cats.

It was worth 11-hp at the wheels SAE corrected.

I wrote about the 2011 exhaust retrofit in my C6 blog on another web site. the CF's rules prohibit me from posting a link or mentioning the site's name, but if you search for <Blue Bullet Blog post #224> you'll likely find the article.

A less expensive alternative is the CORSA X-pipe.
