Default Installed FAST and the valve train ticking is crazy loud

I have read over the years of increased valve train noise by adding the FAST but I had no idea it would be like this. With the top down I could hear it sitting at a light and then last night I put the top up and it sounded horrible! My wife said what is wrong with your car?? And this is with the stock cam and no other mods, this is normal?

Hi!

Did you install it by yourself? Are all srews tight? Could be a sealing not in the right place?

I torqued everything down to spec at 85 inches. After reading other peoples post it sounds normal I thought you could hear it outside the car I didn't realize how loud it would be inside the car.

When i installed my fast on my car i had to grind down the top shell all the way in the back because it was touching the cowl area. I also had to remove a bolt on the cowl because it was still rubbing.

When I installed my FAST intake there was a noticeable increase in valve train noise. Sounded like everything echoed more.

I think you are ok as long as it was installed correctly.

Are the grommets at the bottom?

Seems strange that it would be so loud with a stock cam?

Another forum member awhile back, gave me a heads up about this characteristic of the FAST intake and it was part of why I went with a ported stock intake as opposed to the FAST.

VertC6, are you really getting any benefit from it if you're running the stock cam?

You could probably sell it if it comes to that.

I really feel the difference in the mid range so I'm going to work on insulating it first and hopefully that will do the trick

Really, maybe my carbon fiber hood has something to do with it because it's not insulated?

Well here is what I would do since the swap is easy and fast swap and see the difference and see if indeed there is a difference in sound.

I just started mine up after changing to a fast plus other things and I was alittle nervous
about mine if you put your ear close it sounds like a hollow echo sound.

Mine does too with the hood open but that doesn't bother me. With the hood closed inside the car it a very loud ticking sound.

Anyone know how to post a video from my iPhone?
