Default My Build - Heads/Cam - A better car

So after having the car for sale for a pretty long time I have finally given up responding to ridiculous offers and have decided to keep it and make it a car I can't live without.

This consists of removing the nitrous kit, doing heads/cam and some interior customization.

The Heads are being sent out to Slick Rick Racing Heads for CNC port and valve job. I am having the heads milled .040 and we are running .040 cometic gaskets to bump the compression.

Here is the parts list I have ordered so far:

BTR Stage IV cam with titanium spring kit and 7.775 pushrods
ATI 10% under drive
Rocker Arm Trunion Kit
Morel 5315 Hydraulic Roller Lifters
New lifter trays
ARP Head Bolts/Balancer bolt/cam bolts
Cometic .040 head gaskets
OEM front cover/water pump gaskets
Sending the Intake manifold and TB to be ported
LS9 Injectors

Mods currently on the car:
LG Longtubes with Catless mid
Stock axel backs
MGW shifter
Mcleod twin disk
K&N Cold air

The car is a street/strip and I would like to get 600hp NA out of it but would also like to be knocking on 9s door if not inside.. To do this I will need to get some 17s and run a hoosiers. Car currently has 345/35/19 NT-05s and I don't think they are going to cut it.

As far as the interior of the car goes I ordered a centennial suede wheel with red stitching and I am having the center console/lid/shift boot/ebrake boot redone in the same suede with red stitching. I am also getting the cluster surround hydro dipped in carbon. Then later on down the road I plan on switching over to the suede 2012 seats and the interior will be done.

Now for some pics

I wouldn't have ordered the push rods yet. You need to measure for proper length as you are changing a lot with regards to proper length and preload.

Otherwise looks like a solid set up should make good power.

What kind of fuel do you plan on running?

93 octane.

Maybe even eventually e85. But we will see how well 93 does.

I discussed the entire build with Brian and he spec'd those push rods. We will for sure be checking to make sure.

Should be righteous with the .040 mill AND the .040 gasket. If you were on lousy 91 like we are out here i might say thats too aggressive but on 93 you will probably be ok. That and the improved quench from the tighter gasket helps also. Good luck with your build!

What's the stock head gasket thickness?

Glad you decided to keep the car. Sounds like you have a very realistic expectation for a nasty build. Like already mentioned, pushrods should be ordered last, although, you might be ok with the ones you ordered, but you obviously have to measure twice to make sure. Milling the heads seems to have the biggest effect at altering the pushrod length, as it should.

Thanks man! And I know I will be glad in the long run as well.

We will be absolutely checking the push rod length but Brian sound very convinced that this size will be just right :P

Pretty excited to see what he valve train sounds like with the trunion and morel lifters. Heard it quiets things up quite a bit!

Here are some pics of my ported intake and TB as well as the new steering wheel

So here is a little update - well I take that back a large update.

Got the heads back from slick rick and holy crap did he do an AMAZING job. They look so sexy and the quality of his customer service and craftsmanship is awe inspiring. I can not recommend him enough.

I got the car back together and running flawlessly on the new build.

Interior turned out amazing. Tune with the 13:1 compression on 93 is perfect. Car hauls *** throughout the entire RPM range in every single gear.

Took the car to the track to get some base line times on my street tire setup in 2700+ da lol... It was hot as hell and I spun entirely through first gear and still managed to run an 11.0 at 132.

Picked up a set of bogarts and I am now waiting on some 28" hoosiers/shift light/2 step to arrive and some nice weather to really run some great times!

PICS:

Lol those kitchen cabinets are a nightmare. Every cabinet door opens the exact opposite of the way it should and the way you would expect it to.

We are going to redo the kitchen sometime anyways lol.

Plus the cam duration Will likely drop DCR significantly. He wouldn't be able to create that much static compression on a small cam and get away with pump gas.

OP, u might want some better axles soon. That much power on a sticky tire will surely snap the half shafts. What year is this car again?

Thanks guys. Car is an 07 and i am going to run a sticky but soft Hoosier to get away without breaking anything, soon anyways lol.

Car is running 100% and my buddy Shane Hinds did the tuning. No issues what so ever in this disgusting heat we have been having and 93 octane, been racing non stop in it lol.

Car hasn't been on a dyno yet.

I'm not too worried about the dyno numbers, I want to do it just to see but the track is really what I am worried about.

I am on a crazy quest for 9s NA.
