Default Katech SN#61 Gets EPIC Track Car Upgrade!

This car was a Stage 2 Z06 that already had suspension, brakes and aero. It was mostly gutted, the cage was installed by somebody else (unfortunately) and it was used mainly for track. It had about 50 hours on the bottom end and when we removed the engine it was on it's last leg. One of the cylinders had 90% leakdown and the liner was visibly wavy looking down the bore.

We did the following:
Track Attack 427 RHS engine with ARE dry sump system and Spintric. Setrab front mounted oil cooler. Gutted every piece of OEM electronics and harness. PRS made race harnesses for the engine and chassis and we are using a stand alone EFI system. This means ABS/TC were gone so we used a Bosch Motorsports ABS system.

Holinger sequential gearbox with pneumatic paddle shifters. No lift, no clutch upshifts and rev-matched clutch downshifts. The clutch is a Tilton triple plate carbon so it revs like an F1 car.

Lexan windshield with support

Mechanical door handle releases on the interior and exterior

Door closeout panels

Motec dash with datalogging. The membrane switch in the center console controls all functions to the ECU via serial data. Engine map, TC map, ABS map are all adjustable through this console. The switch to the left of the Motec dash controls the only piece of stock electronics we left, the power telescoping steering colum. Steering wheel controls radio, flash to pass, drink bottle, pit speed limter and dash controls.

Flash to pass demonstration:

Twin Setrab coolers stacked where the license plate would be. One for the gearbox and one for the diff. The diff pumps fluid using an LG kit with Dailey pump driven off the ring gear. Fans are controlled by the ECU.

Fire supression system

Braille lithium ion battery

Compressor and tank for the pneumatic paddle shifter

Very, very nice - and of course it is impolite to ask, but.. to the nearest 5k, how much invested?

Many things were done outside of our shop (suspension, wheels, cage) and the customer purchased some parts himself (gearbox, ABS, PRS harnesses, ECU, electronics), so it's hard for me to say.

Got to see this build in progress, very impressive! Do you have curb weight? Will this be at track attack?

Yea, my "ex" has been dominating SCCA on the west coast. Won the championship last year.

Price on the Bosch Motorsports ABS system?
Do you need to change the wheel speed sensors?

$12000

Yes, we had to change to 2009+ wheel bearings with the Bosch wheel speed sensor and do some connector changes.
