Default question about Factory muffler removal

i currently have 2012 ZR1 mufflers on my 06 Z06, and wondering how high does the rear of the car needs to be raised in order to remove the mufflers ( installing other mufflers )

I ended up cutting my OEM ones - one actually I could get one out, the other I needed a sawzall. Your patience may vary!

Not sure how much difference there is between the Z06 and ZR1 mufflers, but if they are about the same size then the passenger side is a bear to remove. I had to drop the rear sway bar and remove the splash pan and then with some patience and maneuvering I finally got it out (be careful you don't damage some wire connectors that are near the passenger side muffler). The driver's side comes out pretty easily.

You beat me to it! Some have said they could get the passenger sideout without removing anything--I don't know of hohhow they did it. It's still tough even after removing the splash pan. The car pictured above should be high enough.

Drop 4 bolts on the rear cradle and that passenger side oem muffler comes out like cake. No need to cut.

Thats how we did it. Once on a lift and once without. Lift def helps but you can do without one, despite what others say. You'll need a second set of hands FOR SURE though

Removing the pan above the mufflers gives you just enough room.

Exactly how I did mine. Got them out no problem. Ramps in front and rear high enough to have tires off the ground a couple inches.

a little more than that, wheels and lower shock mount have to come off too or the cradle will just drop on the front bolts not the rear. still not that bad

I just removed the 4 bolts and that was it, had a buddy pry down on the tranny a bit with a pry bar and it was just enough to get the passenger side can out.

On my 07, I had it up on a lift and there was no way other than using a sax-all on the passenger side! I tried for 3 days and finally used the saw!

i did it by myself, so there wasnt any extra hands to pry with, it had to come down so i had to undo the shocks to get it to freely separate. i will also state i have the ECS trans/diff brace to contend with. it was tough but it came out and went back in too.

Should have dropped the cradle...wouldn't have had to cut anything.

If you drop the cradle for this do you need to get a rear alignment afterwards?
