Turbo my C5 or step up to a C6Z?
Hello everyone. I have a 2002 C5 and I have always wanted a turbo car, but I also love the looks of the C6Z and the LS7. I was wondering, those of you who have C6Zs do you think I should buy a TTIX turbo kit for my c5 or step up to a C6Z? If I did get a c6Z, I would probably do heads/cam/intake instead of turbos. What do you think?

FI is hard on engine, drivetrain.. I had a 03 Z06 and just got a low miles 08 Z with a coulple bolt ons.. no comparison.. its just so much more high end than the c5.. and I loved mine back in the day.. but if price is more important its your call. Either way you will be happy.

What year is your C5? Keep in mind it may have a brand new engine or drivetrain, but every piece of electronics and plastic in that car is 10+ years old. If you're picky like me, you'll sink a small fortune in trying to make your C5 look/function like new.

People have made big numbers with a boosted LS7, but its significantly more expensive to build properly than any other LS. Thats why i'd choose a GS to boost. Even if it does weigh more.

I can't imagine a single person out of 1000 would say keep the c5. I see 0 reasons to stay but let me remind you of the most obvious one: value. Dumping 20k into the c5 isn't gonna make it worth 20k more.
The only imaginable reason to stay with the C5 is if you have some kind of emotional attachment to it. I am not one to be attached to a piece of metal no matter how nice. To each his own

That's true. I agree with what everyone has said. I would rather go for the c6Z than a C5. Now, the only question would be if I'm going to go boosted on whichever I end up choosing, should I boost the c6Z or go for a grand sport instead? Base model c6 is out of the question, only because I really like the widebodies on the GS and Z06.

All motor you want to stick with the Ls7, boosted you want the Gs for the LS3.
Personally I chose ls7 due to the balance, weight, value factor, absence of heat and belt slip issues along with refilling meth tanks etc....
I have walked my buddies S/C z06 making 700 wheel with "only" 540 wheel several times. Don't get caught up on numbers with these cars, it's more driver + usable street power than anything else

My GF can drive it
Parking lots can be tricky at first but nothing crazy

My perspective - I have a C5 with a TTi Stage X kit putting out north of 700 rwhp and I also have a C6-Z06 with heads/cam/headers/CAI putting down 575 rwhp.
Different tools for different jobs.
The C5 is fun in a straight line but would be useless on a road course.
The C6-Z06 is a vastly better car in every respect other than straight shot performance.
I don't care how much $ you spend on your C5 - it's still going to be a C5.
My $0.02 is to ditch the C5 before you end up sinking a small fortune in it like I did.

Me personally put the twins on the c5. How muxh will the c6z cost then add in the mods you want done to it? I love me a c6z but i love my boosted c5. There is no other feeling then when boost kicks on. Probably cheaper in the long run. Just my opinion
