weird hum in clutch
in my 08 Z, recently i started hearing a hum when i push in the clutch to change gears, and while doing it, you feel slight vibration (like what you would feel on your hand if you hummed against it) in the pedal. i was going to change out the trans and diff fluid. i stopped by corvette world to get the fluids and told them what is going on. one of the mechanics came out and talked to me and he said it could be the throwout bearing crapping out. i am the third owner of the car and picked it up with 10k miles, but i don't know how the previous owners drove it. i did the turkey baster method on the clutch fluid several times not long ago, and checking today it is pretty nasty again. what do you guys think?

That's funny because I just started feeling it the other day on my 06 and wondered the same thing. Of course I can already hear my throwout bearing rattling a bit too. I had a 96 Z28 that would make the same noises and swapped the throwout bearing for a new one and that fixed it. So I'm already dreading what I'm gonna have to do to my Z06

on my last car it had the internal slave and it was a pos, but a company made a heavy duty one and once i put that in i never thought about it again. i looked around last night to see if someone made one for the vettes but didnt have any luck

well i went by 21st century and he drove it, he said it is a noisy throwout bearing, its not slipping or anything. he said he personally wouldnt touch it right now, that it is not hurting anything.

My car has been making a humming noise when I let the clutch out for 3 or 4 years. Not sure what is causing the noise but throw out bearing is probably the likely candidate.

Bill, not sure if I understand correctly, but after you release the clutch pedal the throwout bearing should not be touching the pressure plate.
