Default C6 Z06 - found something on the oil drain plug

Yesterday one of my neighbors with a lift was changing the oil in a friends '07 Z06 and we noticed what looked to be a needle bearing attached to one of the magnetic drain plugs. He said the previous owner had heads and cam done to it a couple of thousand miles ago.

It was about a 1mm in length and looked like one of these:

Where could this have come from within the motor?

The rocker arms, pull the valve covers and check them.

And you may want to have a mod move this to the C6Z06 section.

Happened to my 08 Z. Thank God it was under warranty and I was about a mile from the dealership when I heard the noise from the motor. Best of luck.

Are the rocker arm needle bearings only 1mm in length? They look longer to me based on a couple pics I ve seen.

Probably a needle bearing from one of the rocker arms. I'd bet that when the cam was done, no one installed a trunion kit on the rocker arms.

It says LS1 - but we use these on all LS motors.

The length was about 1mm to 1.5mm at most and the diameter was about 1/10 of a mm according to my ruler and my best guess.

The heads were done locally so I'll let him know he might want to have them checked out. I couldn't hear anything out of normal, but it was hard to tell with the cam lope, headers, and aftermarket exhaust possibly masking anything unusual.

Any chance this could've been already in the pan prior to the new heads and just now attached to the magnetic drain plug?
