[Z06] What's a "better" set of longtubes...

If I were going to buy headers again, I would get one of three brands, in no specific order. American Racing, LG, or Kooks. I think any of the three will suit your needs with no problems.

I have never seen a crossover header for the Corvette...there just isn't enough room to do it I don't think. Even if there was it would be incredibly expensive and a royal PITA to get on/off.
On rear/mid-engined kit cars, however the only thing stopping you is time, money, and fabbing skill.

Most of the header brands discussed on the forum are pretty good and you would have to go to great lengths to sort them out for power development. Fit and finish are easier to differentiate than hp claims. If you are concerned with leaving something on the table, you need to consider something like this LS7 header by Pro Fabrication. These are built to a standard that the mass produced headers can't touch. This is a stepped, Tri-Y header made in three separate components. Installation should be significantly easier than conventional long tubes.

I run Hinson 1 7/8 headers on my combo (599RW), for the price they do the job, no problems with fitment and fastened them with Stage 8 hardware. No problems what so ever.

Totally agree. LG is better than the sub-$1000 headers. Nothing out there compares to ARH. I've had both LG and ARH, ARH is the only thing I would buy. If I were on a budget, I would just find used ARH's or keep saving up for new ARH's. They're a level above the rest of the field. Especially when people consider that ARH is avail in 2" and LG is not.
