Thanks everybody for all the good advice. Nice to know so many of us drive, as opposed to just stare at, our cars! 96GS, I am definitely monitoring the storms. SonnyAK, I wish I did have a bit more time, there are a lot of great roads back there I have not had the chance to take, but that trip will hopefully be this summer! I can't say I have set the cruise that high AzDave, but if MTP can set it there in Hawaii, it won't be for long, not enough road!!! PRE-Z06, so you're saying your C5 went 500 miles per tank? Must be that MONSTER CLUTCH!!! fueledpassion, since I am not a pilot in the AF, I would probably get kicked out if I used modafinil (the go pills)...

I drove 13 hours from Florida to Houston back in 1999 in my 1991 F-150 with bench seats and no A/C. All i remember is having a sore back and the last 100 miles seemed to take forever.
Longest trip in the Z so far is 300 miles and it was a cake walk. Maybe i fit these seats better than some, but i actually find the seats to be comfortable on trips.
Biggest factor is weather. Heavy rains make these cars a chore to drive IMO, but with good tires it's not a big deal.
Personally, if it's a scenic trip i can handle about 4-5 hours, but longer than that and i get stir crazy, so i split my long trips up these days.

I drove mine 2600 in less than 3 days with no issues. 5 days later I did the same trip back home

2700 in less than three days for me, with both the Z06 and our Camry Hybrid. The Z06 was more comfortable over that distance than the Camry.

I cant tell you how many times Ive done that trip in various C6s that I've purchased over the years.
I never considered whether or not the car could handle it, though after reading your OP, I'm surprised that I never took it into consideration.

OK, for those of you following along at home, I've decided to lay up and not Roy McAvoy this thing on the 18th hole. I have a roll call at BWI at 2030 on Sunday so I've decided to put in 10 hours tomorrow and wind up easy in Fayettenam, and then do the remaining 5-6 hours on Sunday after the sun is up and the roads have defrosted a bit. Especially since the temps are going to be below freezing and I'm rolling on MPSS. I have found them to be quite frisky on morning commutes. They grip well so long as no throttle stabbing is going on. Cheers to all, and thanks for all the great advice!

Just did the reverse of your trip in a rented International durastar with a bench seat. Moving my mother's household goods from Scranton, PA down to Viera, FL. Took me 2 days though. Weigh stations, fuel stops, and 45 mph up hills really prevented me from doing it in one shot!

It's a car. ALA everything is taken care of maintenance wise it's ready to go however many miles you want to drive it in a day, week, month or year and beyond.
If you know you are doing a massive amount of miles on your trip get the basics checked out before heading out (fluids change to new stuff etc etc) and if the temperature may change drastically on your way to your destination plan on a few tire pressure checks and adjust accordingly.
Like the VW diesel ad says......................"chances are you have to go before it does".

All present and accounted for
Made it with no problems. I guess I've never been up here in the winter between storms. It was clear from Fayetteville to Baltimore, but from Northern north Carolina on up there was a tremendous amount of salt on both sides of the freeway, wow! I washed my car off in 22 degree weather before i parked it for the next 10 days. Hope the battery survives but i also have a portable jump starter/air compressor in case it goes flat in the cold... attached a link to a picture of the fuzz in the drivers mirror. cheers!

1080 miles yesterday
P.S. Americans cannot drive to save their a$$. Those Germans know how to stay out of the PASSING lane. Some looky-loos stopped traffic next to a cop with a car pulled over; I was able to hunker the beast down without a scratch, thank God for good brakes!
