1,000 miles in a day?
Any reason (other than driver fatigue) not to drive my 08Z with 30,000 miles 1,000 miles in a day? Should i break it up into two 500 mile days? Cheers!

I've done 14 and 15 hour days back to back and it was fine (10 hour 1/2 day the third day).
I did the same in our Camry and my butt was a little sore afterwards, 2700 miles total both times.

Assuming your Z06 is well maintained and that you do a proper inspection for fluid levels, tire pressure, etc. the car can handle it. The real questions are- can you handle it? And, is there a real need to cover that distance in a day? 500 miles is very do-able and, if I could choose between the two options, that's what I would choose.

1,987 miles in approximately 28 hours.
May the force be with you.....drive safe.

I did Dallas to Orange County in 24 hrs in a POS rental car...you can do it if it's important enough. I like road trips, so I would prefer to break it up these days though. Where's point A and where's point B?

If you're asking, you're soft. Break the trip up.

Google maps says 15 hours. I am planning on sleeping Friday afternoon and getting up around midnight and stepping out around 0200. Should be in Jacksonville around 0730 EST for the sunrise, and a left turn up I-95. Then only 11.5 hours left up the Eastern Seaboard... I've never been to North Carolina, so I'll get to check that off the list.
Conversely, I could go up the interior and get Kentucky and WV if it was warmer, I definitely would. Looks like some cool roads following the foothills of the Appalachians. And of course a small detour for the Tail of the Dragon (this summer!)...
I have my secret weapon for long drives: sunflower seeds! In the shell, there is nothing better to keep someone awake when they're tired. Beats loud music, the window down, max AC, black coffee. Something about breaking the shell, transferring to one side, seed on the other side, it's unbeatable!
OK, I have to go drop the tranny and transfer case out of my H2. If anybody on here knows how to do that, send me a PM, it's stuck on the guide pin on the passenger side. H2 forums is sad and lonely /sadface.... I'm off like a prom dress!!!

I would agree that it is driver fatigue rather than any car issue that would potentially be a problem. I have driven over 1000 miles in one day on 3 occasions, without any special issues. I drove from Oswego, NY to Augusta, GA in one 13 hour day, and from Augusta, GA to Topeka, KS in one 13 hour day, and Fort Stockton, TX to San Bernardino, CA in (C5Z) one 13 hour day. I think it is easier (on me) to drive from east to west, because the sun follows you, and you get some free hours of daylight that way. I have driven my C5 Z06 across country on several occasions, and I have found it to be an excellent driver's car for long distance driving.

We usually drive about 750 miles on the first day or two on our cross country trips. Car is fine..... I am begining to think 500 is better!

Check the weather forecast this time of year. I' not aware of anything but in some areas a minor amount of rain or snow can slow you way down.

The car can definitely do it with no issues - as long as it's a nicely maintained car...That said, break up the trip and actually have fun, take backroads as much as possible and enjoy the drive!

my roommate in college drove his c5z from southern CT to Jacksonville FL in 9.5hrs. his average speed was over 100mph. left at 9 at night. I think it was because someone in his family was about to pass.
too bad there isn't a special lane on I-95 for cars than can cruise comfortably at 100+mph

Ever heard of Modafinil? You should consider some of that for a trip that requires 10+ hrs of driving, especially if any of it will be at night.
The car will easily outlast you on a road trip.

They fixed that "problem" on the C7's.

I drove my STI back to back 1000 mile days last February when we moved. My back was wrecked. I didn't think I was gonna be able to drive the second day. Hotel room rest was better than nothing and I pushed through. Did the same drive in my wife's car 1 month later and it made a huge difference. I have to assume the Z would be as bad as the STI was. Stiff suspension and hard seats.

I've done a 1000+ mile stint from Pennsylvania to Arkansas in my c5 making one pit stop to eat and fill up at a gas station with an average speed of 79mph. Have done four ~800 mile stints from Philadelphia to Bowling Green and on to Fort Worth, then to Atlanta and back up to Philly as well with no problem as it's a surprisingly comfortable car to cruise in.
