Fill oil pump with oil thru the plug on the left side of block so it doesn't spin dry, I use a 3/8 hose and a funnel. Seal that back up and hit ignition switch to crank motor with clutch and gas pedal fully depressed. It will not start until you let off gas pedal. To stop cranking just hit ignition switch as if you were turning off car. Never had issue with this method and had oil pressure immediately upon startup.

Correct. I actually prefer to pump oil through the whole engine with a pump, but this way should get the job done unless something is really wrong.

Why is everyone unplugging the sensor? During a heads/cam swap I saw no need to unplug mine. Unless it somehow became unseated when I swapped the manifold on, which i dont see how it could as it is an automotive snap style connector.

Shoot now that you say that I think it was actually the coolant temp I was thinking. Whatever is on the right side of the block I didn't have plugged in

Depending on what manifold you use, and how the sensor is oriented from the factory, some need to me clocked, so the connector isn't hitting the manifold. I ended up having to use an additional washer, so I could clock mine correctly.

I inadvertently unplugged my oil pressure sensor when I was reinstalling the intake manifold. Was not a good feeling to see 0 oil pressure on initial startup. I luckily found the sensor was unplugged, plugged it back in and all was well.
