I actually paid less than that but talk to vendors and see what deal you can get. Even at 160 well worth it.

So are people going back to stock or with CHE/Straub/BTR? Is there any issue with the stockers?
What's your cam profile like on that 440? Who did the build, and what does that build consist of? Maybe looking into a roller setup (depending on your build) could be the better move?

My intent was to provide this information to people who may consider this as and "upgrade" Its their money and their motor!! Only upside is I have a really badass motor since the rebuild!!!
Great thread OP. If there's a $120 part that has a known propensity to fail prematurely; I certainly wouldn't allow it to stay in my $15K motor.

I opened up the valve covers and looked at the rockers with 500 miles on them, not track driving but spirited and I see absolutely nothing meaning no metal particles that would indicate anything is happening. Will check again at 1000 miles and then actually open up one to see if there is any wear on the trunion. If it was wearing like others had I would see some particles around the rocker.

LS7R cam. Central Texas Machine did the build. Its 4.130 x 4.100. Compstar crank and rods, Wiseco 2.8cc dome pistons. RPM CNC'd heads. 12.2:1 compression. It is a lightly used motor I bought from another member here. Haven't fired it yet, still working on getting it in my car. I've spent enough on this motor/swap already. If I find wear when taking these apart, I'll just be going with the Smith Bros bushing kit.

You say talk to the vendors, you mean the texas speed type, or who?
I don't think you're talking out of turn to offer who you bought from or spoke to about the parts...

Any vendor that sells Smith straub or btr parts. Joe at Cpr typically has great prices.

I listened to the video when it was posted in that thread and really didn't think it could be an exhaust component tapping somewhere. However, as hard as it is to diagnose sounds on a laptop I kept silent.

Well, I'd already seen enough to know that I'd never put them on my engine. This is just more proof for the doubters to ignore.

The rocker would need to be disassembled to determine anything of value. I thought you were an engineer?

As Michael said, you need to pull one apart. I did the same thing at 18k miles, said the same thing. Then I opened one up, and it was trashed. Unless you remove snap rings and push one out, you may not see anything.

Obviously you cannot read very well, I said I only checked mine and will open up to see later on. Every post that someone puts in here or somewhere says they see metal by the side area clip. I'm not going to open them up with 500 miles on them when there is nothing to indicate anything is happening at this time.

Post a picture of them. Like I said above, I said the same thing until I opened one up. Did you actually open them up and inspect, or just saying that because the car is running?
