Default Good street tires - Invo, PSS, PS2, NT05?

Looking for opinions on 335 or 345 tires for weekend rides.. like rides with the wife. I have a set of R888 for playing, but looking for to do road trips with. Decent wear is important (compared to the R888). but hookup is right up there to.

Local dealer has a set of PS2 for the same price as Invo's. How is the straightline traction between the two of these? PS2 seem to be getting phased out?

Thanks

PSS will likely be your best bet. I imagine the Invo's are more comfortable and because they are asymmetric, you could technically rotate the rears for extra mileage. However, the side walls ARE softer than the MPSS' and I have personally witnessed other Z06 drivers claiming to hate the Invo's compared to the MPSS in the performance category.

I personally have the MPSS and at 500rwhp they handle the power just fine.

I'll vote against the NT05s. Had some on my C5 (275/295). When new they had impressive grip, but they aged out after maybe a year. Even when new, they'd hydroplane in moderate rain at 65, on a grooved frwy.

I have ran Nitto INVO (345's) on a stock 07Z and they were some of the worst tires I have ever rolled on. I now have 580whp and my Z hooks half way through first while running 335/30R20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Keep in mind that most people tend to run a thinner sidewall, sometimes increasing the sidewall ratio can have a greater affect on traction than the width of the tread.

How are the PS2 vs PSS? I can get a really good deal on a set of PS2's right now.

And looking for 19". Would run a 18" but nobody makes them anymore.

RE11's in front stock size are on back order, you can still get the RE11 in stock rear size

Another vote for Michelin PSS tires, quiet, sticky and great wear. I like my 285/345 set up.

About the wear on the PSS tires...

Only if you don't drive the car as intended. Intended = sporadic spirited driving, precarious speeds on curvy back roads and the occasional romp on the interstate and various on-ramps, and rolling thru intersections (going straight, of course). We're talking 5% of the total mileage of the car is like this.

Driven like that, the tires will hold up fine until the 12-15K mark, where the rear tires will likely suffer wet weather performance, will no longer be as quiet and will not hold up under straight-line acceleration near as well.

Sure, we could drive on these tires well past 20K, but I'd be surprised if they weren't bald by then.

Compared to OEM GY's, love my Invo's but according to this thread, I'm cheap.☺

PS2 ZP were specifically designed for the z06. I have heard of individuals who went to non run flats and seem to like them but that comes at a cost in terms of a softer wall. I, like you, are about to purchase a new set of tires and will probably stick with PS2 ZP and my car produces 600+ rwhp. My current tires PS2 ZP have 18k miles and the hookup decent enough for what I do on the roads but yes they will break loose on serious throttle pressure.

The 19/20 OE sizes were specifically designed for the C6. Lets not confuse this with these guys interested in the 18/19 sizes.

This is actually for a C5 but I run the C6 Z06 sizes. 275/35/18 and rear 19x12 wheels. 700+rwhp ysi supercharged. Not expecting to find a street tire to hold the power. I have a set of 335 R888 mounted on a second set of wheels for play time. Just want yes a 'cheaper' tire non run flat for cruising with wife, road trips, etc.

Expanded my search to 325 rears and found coopers and hankook?

Also need something for HPDE (total beginner) but going to post that in autocross section.
