I regularly deal with my reverse no longer wanting to play. Still don't have an exact science but I go from 1st to Reverse, if that doesn't work I release the clutch, press it back down, 1st to Reverse. Eventually I start going to all gears back and forth, I think yesterday 2nd gear revealed reverse. Anyway no idea if this helps but hopefully you find an answer for it soon!

Check out this thread..https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...e-problem.html

It's apparently a very common problem. Probably the reverse synchro.

No reverse as in you can physically put the transmission in reverse and there is no movement or meaning that you can not even select reverse with the shifter?

It would be very uncommon to all of a sudden have no movement in reverse without having symptoms leading up to the failure. It's more common that you can't select reverse due to the lockout solenoid failing.

Exactly, check the solenoid first, then go from there.

And I have an issue with this "failed reverse syncro" diagnosis.. How is it possible that something that is used so infrequently (compared to all the other gears) would have such a high failure rate?

Maybe Rick can chime in to clarify.

Just about every manual transmission I've owned (and I've only owned manual trans cars and trucks) I've occasionally had to select a forward gear, roll forward a bit, then select reverse - if that is what is happening to the OP, not sure anything is "broken".

I see far more 2nd 3rd and/or 4th gear synchro failures than any others. Reverse is one of the least typical from what I've seen, but we deal with a lot of track cars that aren't using reverse much.

There's a company called www.thegearbox.org

I just ordered complete reverse gear assembly parts for 500 usd

Mine was having trouble selecting I think by the sound of it yours is the solenoid if it won't let you go across to select reverse, that would maybe happen all of a sudden if it was synchro a etc then that would be worse over time I believe

Try pushing hard to the right to get it over to reverse you will feel it move into the extended part of the gate
