I was referring to tracking the car, as I believe the Viper was meant to do - Not really comparing the straight line speed per say. You can put a blower on an LS2 and beat a ZR-1 in a straight line but still get it handed to you on a race track.
I just remember a comparison test between the ACR vs. C7Z06 and there really wasn't a comparison, lol. In one lap on an average length track the ACR was 3 seconds faster than the Z...
At 177, it produces nearly 2000lbs of down force. Anyways, my understanding is that Dodge really improved on the previous generation in both the GTS and the ACR. If there ever was a Viper that lived up to it's name without needing to mod it substantially, it's this one.

Jeff Palmer works on the Vipers, right?
I hesitant to come down because you're close to an hour and a half from me.
But I've heard nothing but great things about you guys.
Someone told me he knows the tech at dodge in Eatontown, NJ, which is about 35-40 min. From me. He said he did his recalls and was good also.

That's right. I can hardly believe it myself, but after 13 straight years of owning a Z06 (03' C5Z, 06' & 09' C6Z's & 11' Carbon Edition C6Z) I no longer own a Corvette.
2 weeks ago I traded in my Supersonic Blue 2011 Carbon Edition Z06 on a 2014 Dodge Viper GTS. There, I said it.
This is the only picture I have of it so far. It has the aero package, hidden/built in Passport radar detector, upgraded stereo & carbon fiber interior package. I got a good deal on it and a pretty good trade in value on my Z.
I'm still not sure how or why I decided to do it. I had been searching the 'for sale' sites and saw the Viper and just had a gut instinct to do it. It was the same instinct I got when I first saw my Carbon Edition...So I went for it!
I haven't really driven it with all the rain we've had here these past 2 weeks. I HAVE polished it up nice though in my garage. I can't wait to put some miles on her. It is VERY nice & they've come a long way over the years.
I looked at a Viper in 03 before I got my C5Z and I couldn't fit in it (knees hitting the dash,etc.). Now there's plenty of room & it's much more refined, and the interior is nicer and more advanced than my Z was.
I Already have wheels & brake cooling ducts ordered for the track. Tires to follow shortly.
Although I haven't been on here much recently, I'll still be popping in from time to time. The Viper forums have hardly any traffic, unlike the Corvette Forum!

Ron does you car have adjustable ride height? Even though I have one I don't know that much about other models.

The height is not adjustable, but it can be lowered by adding spring caps.
But it lowers the car only 3/8" and costs close to $400.
There's nothing I can do to adjust it on the go or put it up and or down like I think you can do on your ACR.

Nice! I looked at a Viper also but I couldnt do it. I have nothing against Dodge and Ive been driving Dodge trucks for well over 15 years - great trucks. I went ahead and got a '13 ZR1 instead
Good luck with that badass machine!

Great car, I am considering a viper myself. I currently have 09 06 (fully built HCI) and a 991 GT3. I am thinking about selling my z06 for a the latest viper ACR. Love that car. Beast. Frankly I expected a bit more from C7 Z06: less weight, NA 580-600 hp would have been perfect.
enjoy your new ride.

Old thread dug up, but for good reason.
I'm back! Lol
Well...to all of the forward seers above, you were EVENTUALLY right. On Thursday I traded in my 14 Viper for a 2018 Z06/Z07 car! Lol
It's been almost 3.5 years and like all of my 4 prior Vettes, I had the itch for a change.
When the C7 first came out I didn't care for the looks but it has grown on me.
I started looking about 5 or 6 weeks ago. I found the right car and they gave me the right # on my car. With the money I saved in not paying sales tax I basically drove the Viper for free. In NJ you pay sales tax only on the difference of a trade in, and in this case my car was worth MORE than the C7. They ended up giving ME $ and their car!
So far I've only driven the Z home, about 90 miles. It has a good amount more interior room, rides much softer (due to suspension settings), is quieter with the rear exhaust vs. The Viper's side exhaust, and is cooler inside the cabin especially with the cooling seats, which I LOVE!.
The stereo was MUCH better in the Viper. Power seems more linear in the Z, and the shifter feels much, MUCH softer and not notchy compared to the Viper. Also, the Viper clutch was MUCH stiffer than the Z.
Well those are my initial impressions/comparisons. The Viper was VERY exclusive, gorgeous when clean, and it was a beast on the track. I've seen some real good track times in the Z by folks at my home track, so I'm hoping the track differences will be minimal.

Welcome back. I wondered how long it would take, but didn't think it would be 3 years.
