After 4 Z06's & 13 years of Corvette ownership....I'm out!
That's right. I can hardly believe it myself, but after 13 straight years of owning a Z06 (03' C5Z, 06' & 09' C6Z's & 11' Carbon Edition C6Z) I no longer own a Corvette.
2 weeks ago I traded in my Supersonic Blue 2011 Carbon Edition Z06 on a 2014 Dodge Viper GTS. There, I said it.
This is the only picture I have of it so far. It has the aero package, hidden/built in Passport radar detector, upgraded stereo & carbon fiber interior package. I got a good deal on it and a pretty good trade in value on my Z.
I'm still not sure how or why I decided to do it. I had been searching the 'for sale' sites and saw the Viper and just had a gut instinct to do it. It was the same instinct I got when I first saw my Carbon Edition...So I went for it!
I haven't really driven it with all the rain we've had here these past 2 weeks. I HAVE polished it up nice though in my garage. I can't wait to put some miles on her. It is VERY nice & they've come a long way over the years.
I looked at a Viper in 03 before I got my C5Z and I couldn't fit in it (knees hitting the dash,etc.). Now there's plenty of room & it's much more refined, and the interior is nicer and more advanced than my Z was.
I Already have wheels & brake cooling ducts ordered for the track. Tires to follow shortly.
Although I haven't been on here much recently, I'll still be popping in from time to time. The Viper forums have hardly any traffic, unlike the Corvette Forum!

Wow, from a Carbon to a Viper...that would be a tough choice to walk from a Carbon for myself. That is a nice ride you have there though.
I have no plans to part ways with my C6Z anytime soon, if ever...but I think the next car for me will be an AMG GTS. Pre-owned of course; most of the $100K+ AMG stuff drops like a rock after a few years.
Best of luck!

Damn, a CE brother gone, but not forgotten!
It does look pretty bad-a$$ - I sat in one at Road Atlanta Petit LeMans a few years ago, I was impressed with the build quality (maybe less-so with the weight).
Hopefully you wont miss the CC brakes..

Thanks guys! I wonder if I made a bad knee jerk decision, but I mean it IS a Viper...not like it's a Charger or something. Every time I look at it I think, "Wow, the car is sweet!"
It's a really nice ride. I do & will miss the CE....I hope the Viper's brakes are close to the CC's...or at least 85% as good! lol

Man oh man I have been thinking about the same thing over the last several months. I don't know how much longer I will be able to hold off. I have a H/C 07Z with all of the supporting mods.
How does the Viper compare to all of your Vettes in straight line acceleration?
I'd check to make sure your car had the R28 and R29 recalls.
That is a sweet car for sure. I am jealous.

It did NOT have the R28/29 recall done yet. It had just had an oil change done, so I'd have to get some miles on it first before they'd be able to send the oil in, then I'll take it in. For me, it wasn't a deal breaker, just a bit of a hassle to go do it. It was purchased new in May of 2015, so she's in service for about 1 year this month. Loads of warranty time left on the clock!
1450 miles.

Congrats!!
I got rid of my 08 Z06 last year, loved the car, hated GM not wanting to take care of the problem with these heads. Bought a Nissan 370Z as a play car, that got boring and traded it in last weekend on a 2015 Mustang 5.0 GT / 435 HP fully loaded with 5K miles on it, still not a Z06, but it's a all around fun car to drive and more room for stuff on weekend trips.

Vipers always turn my head but that one would snap my neck Beautiful and Conrats. Your absence has been felt on this forum (as well as other appreciated members who have moved on to the C7 or elsewhere, but glad you'll stay on. Enjoy your new ride ).

Viper, The only Dodge I'd consider.........and maybe the Hellcats when they lose 700 lbs.
