Katech Torquer 110 first gen without the 4* built in advance.
It appears the lifter broke (new OEM LS7's) because of the the wash of engine coolant that was making it's way into the lifter galley. The plunger retaining clip broke

Broken lifter

Do u think ur dyno numbers were skewed a little from the coolant problem?

I don't think so. I had a good head gasket seal around the cylinders, and performed a leak down test to confirm. While the damaged deck surface was present during my original dyno pulls, the coolant leak was not impacting the engine at that time. It took approximately 4K miles before the lifter broke, and oil changes during that 4K mile period didn't indicate any coolant in the oil.

For a 110 cammed car, it ran very strong.

Ouch... Bummer. I cringe when I see anyone near an aluminum block or heads with a gasket scraper, for that very reason. The surface finish needs to be perfectly flat and smooth for MLS gaskets to seal properly.

Aaahh, well that's good to know....those T110 cams seem like great Street cams....how'd u do in Mexico vs other cammed cars?

Also look forward to seeing ur build put together and out at Pavs chopping away

Yeppers.

I think we can get it taken care of with a light decking...the short block is being dissassembled now so I should have some news in the next couple of days

Hopefully it doesn't need more than a quick skim cut. Having a zero deck height makes things sooooo much simpler with finding pistons and gaskets. Your engine builder probably already knows, but it's worth mentioning to spend some time with a bore gauge on the lifter bores.

I did very well against other cars that had much larger cam's than me, especially if it was a roll race from very low speeds (under 40 MPH), where the superior torque helped out. Best 1/4 trap at AZ altitude was 131 in the 10.4-.5 range on 1.5X 60' times, which is very solid for a torque biased cam, but she was out of breath by 6300 RPM, and I never had a chance to compete with that cam on any of the runway events but I think it would have been competitive with any of the other 550-570 RWHP Z06's. I've run against a number of my buddies on this forum

Sweet, awesome to know that....im possibly looking at a car with that cam in it already so it's good to hear that stuff from someone with it locally that ran it.

A solid street car cam
Check this thread about my 10.50 runs, and why I'm switching out to the K501

Update: Good news....rods, crank, and block checked out fine. Block has been squared, decked, and the cylinders needed just .005 bore (not bad, having had 78K miles on engine).
Heads were dropped off for measurements so that the proper forged pistons can be ordered

So far, so good

It's good to see your engine is making good progress. Are you considering the Mojave in October?

Yes, and the NoFlyZone too. It's in October as well
By then, cooler weather should be approaching so I can go make some passes at Wild Horse Pass dragstrip

NoFlyZone and Mojave are on the same weekend in October. I notified Tony and he knew that but said it was the least conflicting event for them. I'll be a Mojave. I'll need to go to WHP dragstrip and learn how leaving the line is done. I've only done one drag strip night and that was in a E36 M3, quite different from my soon to be finished HCI Z06

Not even worth the time to do that. A prepped track is worlds different than a airport/runway. You would be better off just finding a road and doing 0-40mph over and over.

Come on out to WHP and we can hit the track together, Dave. I wanna do the NoFlyZone as well. Is Mojave autocross?

I want to break 200 at Mojave and am not going to do that on the street anywhere.

I do need to learn how to do a 1/4 mile with my new build and haven't yet ffound the event I want to hook up in so am looking for input from other Valley guys.

Mojave is 1-mile and 1 1/2 mile trap speed event in Mojave CA. My best stock mile was 173.5 and best wind-aided 1 1/2 mile 196.5.

Nacho, Mojave is the standing 1 mile and 1.5 mile runway event in California, whereas the NoFlyZone is the 1/2 mile event in Gila Bend.

I want the 200 MPH certificate for the garage, so the Mojave event is the event to run

What I was saying is practicing launch at WHP is not going to be helpful. For a 1st-3rd that works, but all that gets you is practicing some shifts. You said use WHP to learn how to leave the line, but a sticky prepped track won't help as much as just doing some street launches on normal concrete similar to an airport.
