Default 6.5k Rev Limit?!

hello guys, i own a 06 stock for know that i bought a month ago and i have noticed something lately , when i go WOT on 1st gear i feels sometimes that the car rev limiter is set to 6.5k rpms, on all other gears you can rev till redline without issues, i searched around and found some mixed answers some guys says that is the ecu that is busy controlling other stuff etc, this dont have often but 2 times.

any ideas?!

thanks in advance

Could be traction control kicking in.

In first gear yes, very easy to break traction. Turn traction control and active handling off and try it again. Hold the button down for 10 seconds until the DIC says its off.

You should be able to get over 60 in low gear. Find a place where you can drive at 60 plus mph then run the car at 30 in low gear and roll onto the throttle quickly. You should see 60 to 61 in the HUD just before the you hit the rev limiter.

Depending how fast it is revving the tach could be behind the actual rpm too. I know my 7k shift light goes off at about 6700 in first, and right on 7k in other gears

the car is accelerating faster than the tach can keep up. not uncommon with GM tachs.

ill bet if you go half or 3/4 throttle in first it will go all the way to 7k.

at full throttle the motor is actually at 7k and why your hitting the rev limiter, but the tach is still trying to catch up and is only showing 6.5k

try the above test i bet it confirms it.
