Default ARIZONA group drive UPDATED

UPDATE! See post 43 for details

We are going again on Sunday December 4th

Ok guys. Some friends of mine are going to to be doing a short group drive this Sunday. We will be leaving from east Mesa and going up towards Payson then down through Globe to Hayden and back(~4.5hr round trip). This is kind of preliminary plans and just a friendly drive among friends. We will probably stop for lunch(open to suggestions). I'll have a final gameplan by then end of the day tomorrow.

Let me know if your interested.

FYI: the demographic for this group is early to mid 30s, but everyone is welcome. Unless your an *******, in that case please don't bother.

It looks like I ruled everyone out. I had no idea that the no a-hole rule would be such an issue LOL

2000 members in ACE, but I only know of 1 Z06 owner in your age range and he's the *******.

Try going to the Corvettes and Caddy's bash Saturday morning to round up a group for a drive. Don't be surprised to see older guys and some of us get a little serious at the track too.

Oops! When I thought there was only 1, I didn't know Unreal was only 35 and he's not the *******.

A few years back I had a Z06 clique which had about 15+ owners, and we would run on Sunday mornings early in the morning 5:00 a.m. to avoid "traffic".

I'm also part of the local ACE group, and had a big drive down to Tucson for a run up Mt. Lemmon some years back....75+ cars. Some cruised, and some pushed it up a notch.....or 10

Don't get discouraged by the initial responses....it's pretty warm out and some have family obligations when summer hits.

Once my car is back on the road, I'll start attending more driving events.

Unfortunately I'm busy this coming Sunday but I'd be up for meeting in the future. I'm in Gilbert and have a 2007 LMB Z06. Been on the forums for awhile but I don't post much anymore. I'm 27 by the way so a bit outside your demographic but I assume I'm close enough!

I have family in town but would be interested in the future. I am 35 and live in Gilbert. Have an 07 black zo6 and have put 6k miles on it in the year I have owned it, so I do enjoy getting out. Keep us posted on future outings!

Lots of younger z06 owners in Gilbert. I'm a maybe for Sunday. Depends on weather. I like scenic drives but some corvette groups like to do very aggressive street driving. As long as you don't mind me doing the speed limit I may go.

I'm not discouraged... yet. I know that this is very short notice and a busy weekend for most. I have never made the trip to Mt Lemon. Is it worth it? I have been all up through the eastern part of the state including old HWY666 and that was an amazing trip.

It sounds like people might be interested in this sort of thing, so I will likely try to set up something more formal and with more notice in the future.

I have been a part of other car communities and a can definitely say that corvette groups have a reputation for "very aggressive street driving". I'm not interested in that sort of behavior. The guys I currently roll with are all pretty laid back. We are not a group of saints, but are absolutely respectful of the situation ESPECIALLY in town.

You are welcome to show up and bring a friend if you like. It would be nice to put a face to a name. I will post a meeting time and place before the end of the day.

My current head count looks like:
3xz06
3xS2000
1xNSX

It's a bit difficult to get a large number of cars down to Tucson, then up Mt. Lemmon.....the logistcs get a bit complicated and the groups get fragmented trying to get a large number of cars thru town. We made it up and took all of the available parking We had cars parked everywhere LOL

Our Z06 group made several overnighters doing the Devils Highway runs....lot's of fun too, but our group was less than 10 cars.

You'll find that most of the local Corvette ownership is pretty laid back, and cruisers.
You also have a core group that might drive a bit faster than cruising, but those groups and events tend to be more of an unpublished event.

I would be in but have family plans with the three day weekend ahead. I'll keep an eye out for future threads to meet up.

Z06 people in Gilbert.....I guess I need to get out more. I usually see none.

That run sounds good but I can't do it this weekend. Maybe next time.

Ok guys. I'm thinking we meet at the sonic at 10am and roll out around 10:30. Address is:
647 E McKellips Rd. Mesa, AZ 85203

The route I'm thinking is a combination of the gray and blue routes combined. It should be about 4.5hrs of total drive time. We will probably stop for lunch in Globe.

I will check this thread one last time before we roll out.

Probably go. May cut out early at globe and just do the Hayden loop depending on time/gas/etc.

That's all good, I bought my first one when I was 25. As long as you don't drive like a total idiot, you will always be welcome. I'll probably be looking to set up something better organized in the future.

I bought mine when I was 28. Just turned 35 last week. Amazes me that I've had my z06 for almost 7 years now.

Had a water line pop in the back yard, so busy working on that. Maybe next time. Nice meeting you yesterday.
