Probably like looking for a needle in a haystack. Might be easier to take a micrometer down to your local GM parts dept and ask them to pull a set from the shelf.

I don't get it .... why is this not common knowledge ???

Some where I saw someone say 12mm but it was not stated factually.

I saw advertising on some Hawk pads indicating 14mm.

My guess is that OEM are more like 1 inch thick including the backing plate.

The stock Z06 pad is the FMSI 1185. The diagram for this pad shape shows a .570 in thickness or 17.78 mm.

I am pretty sure that thickness is just the pad material. People don't usually include the backing plate in the thickness since it isn't part of the wearable material.

We may be getting closer with your information but we still don't know for sure as there is a problem with the measurements you found.

Check out these conversions:

.57 inches = 14.48mm

17.78 mm = .7 inches

So maybe overall thickness with backing plate is 17.78mm ??

DH you are correct the measurement should be 14.48 and it was my math problem converting from inches to mm that caused the error not anything in the documentation. That is the thickness of the friction material and explains why they wear out so fast.

Thanks Bill

Adam in the other thread indicated that the Bobcat pad is .60 inches so .57 inches is likely correct.

BTW: I have 45K on my original pads and rotors with street driving and about 15 AutoX days (....hard street driving ). Still have pad left but going to order and change them out soon.

Most pads for the OEM calipers are listed at 15mm thick.

The measurement is the pad material and the backing plate. I have measured the Hawk HP+ 1 piece pads that I used as a replace for the OEM pads. They are 3/8ths of an inch in pad material (about 9.5mm). When you add the 3/16ths for the backing plate the total size is 9/16ths of an inch or 14.3mm.

Whenever I have seen the measurement size for pads it has always been expressed as pad + backing plate. The 6617 Wilwoods I use are about .67"/17mm with the plate, .47"/~12mm without.

Thanks, very useful information.

Its been a while since I held a new OEM pad in my hand but I would have sworn they are much thicker than 1/2" that you are indicating.

I bought a set of new pads and took pictures. I started a new thread so that anyone searching should be able to find it easy.
