Need help picking tires: ZR1 Wheel: 20x12, 19x10
Hey guys!
I'm a little torn as to which tire to select for my 2006 Z06 that has ZR1 wheels on it. They are 20x12 and 19x10. I have a built motor putting down ~800rwhp so traction will be a serious issue.
I can't decide between the non-run-flat Nitto INVO and the run-flat Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP or SS...
Am I ok to go with 345 in the back and 285 in the front? I don't want any rubbing issues. Any recommendations on what I should get or where I should go? I like driving on back roads so a non-radial is out of the question unless I switch wheels/tires at the drag strip.
Thanks!

If you plan on running the car and hooking up you want to get far far away from a 20" wheel. You also do not want a run flat. My car at nearly 600whp wont hold 2nd gear on my 20" wheels with 345 Nitto Invos. I realize that isn't the stickiest option for a tire but when adding another 200 whp to the mix, I dont think it will matter.

If you want to use your 800HP, then you seem to be a straight line guy. Get the MT ET S/S for the rear in 335/25-20.
Since you won't corner hard on the ET rears, the Invo fronts would be OK.
If you are interested in handling (no cornering street tire will hold 800 HP) and don't care about tire wear (the MT's won't last long either) consider the M PSC2 ZP's that come standard on the C7 Z06 W/Z07 package. They are a real pain to mount and big $.
Despite what a few say, the Invos are not a real performance tire. They are inexpensive, quiet, nice ride and very good treadwear. When new, they only compare favorably to worn out cold Goodyear runcraps for grip. If you just did modest road cruising all the time they are great for that. From a grip standpoint they are a step down from NT-05's which are at least one step down from the M PSS. The PSS won't hold your 800 HP.

Stock suspension? The 19/20 low profile RF SCs have very stiff sidewalls. I don't mind them but they are significantly stiffer than non RF and those are significantly stiffer than 18/19s particularly in 285/345 sizes. Simply a matter of amount of sidewall and stiffness of sidewall. I do have Rippe valved Bilsteins so maybe a bit stiffer than stock.
I agree with the mounting problems. Had to add 08 TPMSs to my buy of 2013 ZR1 wheels with RF SC2s. Took the guys at Discount 2 and 1/2 hours to do the 4 tire change and remount. And they had 2 people working on it constantly. They did do a very good job however with no wheel scratches or damage. For that reason alone I would go to the non RF SCs in the future. Or for better all around use, the MPSSs. I have all the above (incl Nitto Invos) mounted on my 4 sets of wheels. The MPSSs are the best all around, the SC ZPs the most fun, the Nittos......OK. In fact if you were local I would happily take off the Invos and sell them to you cheap and put on non RF SC2s.

I wish the MSC2's came in non-runflat for my size but apparently not.
