I am not a waxer, I am a builder (well, at least an assembler anyway) and a driver, so I primarily focus on "technical" threads and topics, don't really surf in any other sections (I do enjoy occasionally reading about all the fun the C7 Z folks are having).

There are a few others like myself - from reading your posts it seems you have similar reasoning for being here. The "arguing" comment was a joke, but I do enjoy spirited discussions.

I am curious - what is the origin of your CF handle, "Tech"?
Definitely wasn't a dig. You just said you don't come for the two primary reasons other people do.

I enjoy technical threads, the FS section _and_ the "hey look at me" threads. I'm just here to read about, and see, cool Corvettes.

The username is a bit of a long story. The short version is I'm tech-geek (by trade and by hobby).

There definitely were 4 or 5 people that would turn a 3 page thread into a 30 page p*ssing contest. I ended up with most on "Block", but still the threads would drag on forever.

I kinda like the calmness.

Other than the new car sensation in the C7 section. A lot of the known issues with the platform are covered already. When I bought my car last year, I knew what I needed to go do for prepping it for the track. Others may do the same instead of posting topics that may have 10+ threads on it. I say "may" since we know it still happens.

Most of us (like yours truly) dealt with the valve guide issue and are out driving our cars knowing this problem is now behind us.

Yes, I was out earlier with my Z causing havoc and now safely home smurfing the internet.

Mini road trip after this weekend in it to continue racking up the miles on my "rebuilt" engine.....................and enjoying every minute of it.

After the C7 Z06 introduction, the drama and pissing contest on this forum definitely died down. Some of the regulars in this forum bought the C7 and took the **** over to that forum and the very final realization that GM wasn't going to take any ownership for the LS7 head issues put a chill on those threads. One or two of worst violators got banned also. I'm generally a pretty nice guy and got a 30 day vacation from the forum for pushing back on some of of worst offenders. I'm very sure I wasn't the only one. Events like that definitely put a chill on dialog.

The guys that are left are mostly civil and helpful, and I like it much better now. Also we have some new participants like Tony Mamo who is bringing a lot of new interest and energy to the C6 Z06 forum. Yes, sometimes the vendor ads are tiresome and don't add value, but the vendors like Tony more than compensate for the braindead peddlers.

Maybe it's just summer? I know I'm pretty busy, and sure I am not the only one.

Some of you are not giving quick Rickie enough credit. Biggest shitstirer I've ever seen, bar none. #1 on my very small ignore list. When he moved on, the vast majority of conflicts came to an abrupt halt.

Amen brutha. Once I put him on my ignore list those 40 page threads were instantly reduced to about 4 pages. He was the worst waster of words I've ever seen.

Not very big on build threads myself. However, there can be some knowledge to be gained or pertinent questions asked. I prefer threads where people post results and progress toward their goals. Here is my post on the recent build. Motor made 950 at the crank N/A. It is in the car and we are working out a few bugs. Results to follow.

BAM!

That's one big reason why legitimate traffic on this forum has dropped way off.

As for builds and problems, I have posted much about my '12 "project car" because it's temporarily sidelined while I do an MSD Intake Manifold installation and test on a C5 Z06.

I haven't done **** with my '12 Z06 in months. It's been sitting under the cover, out in the shop, with my AutoMeter Battery Extender attached.

I do hate all the ads too, but I guess thats the price we pay for the forum being free.
except that there is a freggin ad section in this forum. If I want to buy something I'll go there and look!

+1 on the valve guide comment earlier. Literally every other thread was about that...and the ones that weren't turned into it quickly. It got tiresome. The reason it dies down is because once someone mods the car, they're usually content for a few years. No reason to update or post something new if all you're doing is driving/enjoying your rig.

Then someone gets froggy and adds a blower or nitrous. Then interest is rekindled...briefly.

I bought my '08 and it had 400 miles on it. Drove it every day and it ran like a raped ape up to 35,000 miles. At the time the engine blew, a new LS7 was $18,600 It isn't worth the risk to let it ride.

Yet another thread with people complaining about for sale threads. It is tough to wade through. I wish it was all in one section. I'd pay for a membership just so it would be more organized.

pretty soon the weather will change and the members from the colder climates will put their cars up and the guys from the states where there is no winter will tell us how do we live here and give us a weather report every 10 minutes. But there will be more traffic because of not much driving. Just my observation

Personally, I miss the drama, pushing the envelope of forum rules and taking the occasional forced vacation

I have owned a '69, '78, '84, '87. '04, 08Z06, and currently 06Z06. Always daily drivers. Stopped road courses 2 years back when I destroyed my '08 by putting into a wall, now I AutoX only. Been through blown motors and head rebuilds on the '08. The '06 is completely stock (except catch can). When I totaled the '08 I didn't even consider a different car. I just love the C6Z06. I have about 200K miles combined on the two and still enjoy every minute I am in the car. If something happens to this one I will get another !!!!!!!!!!

Here is some nostalgia for you bored members.......

I thought a lot of the LS7 engine defect discussions were interesting, even if there was some "sifting through material" required.
The drama was just added entertainment !

There were/are certainly many different opinions of the technical problems at issue & possible solutions.
Learned quite a bit from all of it...still trying to learn more.

The OP wanted something to happen here so I chimed in.....he's welcome. BTW I am also tired of reading about valve issues here. Sticking my head in the sand now.......

I'm curious as to why you are recommending that thread to someone looking at buying a C7. What is your take-away from that thread?

I wanted to make sure the OP understood why the C6 Z06 is a superior sports car and a true track car that provides consistent performance.

Nothing to do with the thread, sorry. But I have to say I loved Irvine when I was out there in 82. My buddies and I met a airline stewardess on the flight to Ca. who happened to be from Irvine. We stayed in her condo for a week before heading up the coast. Went to a local IHOP and I met the niece of Gene Autry who I dated a few day's. Beautiful young lady she was. And so was the stewardess.
