That's about what 5th gear would be with stock tires at 7000 RPM redline. The stock LS7 does not have enough power to pull more than the factory claimed 198 at sea level at ~60* F on level ground with no wind.
On a long straight downhill, maybe. I can think of a stretch of 7 mile downhill on I 40 in eastern CA where it might do it, but who thinks a downhill speed is a serious claim?
I did 196.5 trap in a standing start 1 1/2 mile with strong tail wind at 2600' with ~3000' DA stock. Does that represent sea level performance stock with no wind? No, probably close to 10+ MPH high.
I had taller M/T drag radials 345/35/18 with a larger rollout and i got my speedo to read 205 mph. but my car was far from stock. Stock gearing though.

I believe I know where you speak of; pretty sure that's where I got a ticket in my M3 many, many years ago...and I was lucky to be sent on my way with a ticket.
Managed 180 on a 1% uphill @ 6000' el in ~80-90* temps, before I ran out of road.
Would like to take a shot at a laser straight 21 mile stretch that's flat within a total elevation deviation of 300'. Too bad that it's also at 6000'.

I got 204 out of mine. That was at sea level and perfectly flat road. I have headers and and CAI and a tune at the time. The speed was per the speedo and HUD. So accuracy is a guess. It may have been good for another mile or two but that's all. The air temp was 50*F

If I wanted to run long distance at high speed on an Interstate, I'd go to I-80 in Utah. 32 miles dead straight, no interchanges, no wildlife, no vegetation, elevation remains between 4222' and 4232' the entire distance (additional 10 miles if you don't mind going up to 4280'), minimal wind most days, but there are other cars & trucks who use the road and they won't get out of my way, dammit.
Although, my car meets all the NHRA specs to go 10.00, neither my roll bar, helmet, harness, nor clothing meet the MM rules for 180+. Other than the cost to upgrade my current safety equipment to go 181 MPH (since I'm sure that's possible), it's $360 to get a speed certificate from the racing organization, plus a hotel and food.
I could get an official Utah State speed certificate for 200 MPH on I-80, that includes an all expenses paid 3-day room with meals in one of the highest security buildings in the State, for under $1400 and I don't need any safety equipment at all.
Getting back to reality, I have more fun at the drags, so that's where I play often.
If I ever get back up to US 50 in NV, I'd be tempted to push the limits of the car. In the 250 miles between Fallon and Ely, I only saw 5 cars and was cruising triple digits most of the way.

I really don't have an interest in most speed runs, since they don't have rules that provide a competitive incentive. SCTA is a different deal that creates competition, which fosters imagination and invention. NHRA used to be that way before bracket racing took away the incentive to excel within the confines of a set of rules that defined distinct classes. At least things like the Z06 fast list on this forum still have rules that provide an incentive.

With your new build, you will easily break out of the A2 200 MPH+5 limit in the mile and 1/2. There are 1-mile runs at better DA closer to you but 200 in the mile takes a lot. Running A3 requires full cage, fuel cell and more at Mojave for unlimited speeds.

I had that same view in summer of 2009. Right around the same spot I set cruise control at 101 MPH for quite awhile and pulled an indicated 24 or 25 MPG. There was a very fine silty coating on the road that made a big furrowed cloud behind the car at that speed. Nice photo.

We have a section like that here in northern Ca and the front lifted on my Ducati at 150 getting into 5th gear, it settled back down heading to 172 and I backed out because the pavement was so squirrely.

Heading into Sierraville from Portola. No electricity poles, and no deer, and the barb wire is 30 yards out each side. There is 5-6 miles ish of straightaway, but only 2 miles of semi clean wavy pavement. No cops.
I feel much better over a 150 on a bike then the car, you feel more connected and precise on a bike. Stops so much faster. Maybe the DRM's will help the car LOL
I spend a lot of time over 100, its the shifting point into 3rd gear.
You guys do know that cruise control on our C6's only works to 157, right? At 158 and above set point it just keeps climbing. They fixed that problem on the C7's.

That is also the limited speed with a F55 (mag shock) option with the TC on. Turn the TC off and you can continue upwards. Been there - done that.
