What to do with blown LS7
Good morning CF,
I have a LS7 that dropped an intake valve, cracked the wall on #7 cylinder wall. I have already replaced the motor and sold the car.
One of the heads is destroyed, the other is fine. I don't want to just waste this motor, and think it would make for a cool project for me to learn about how motors work, etc.
From what i have read / talked to others about.. i can have the block sleeved and put in a new rotating assembly.
What do you guys suggest i do in order to get the motor healthy & swap into something cool. (Rx7, e36 m3, etc)

Well first thing you would need to do it contact a company who makes replacement sleeve, darton erl etc and talk to them about what you want to do. The next step would be to find a machine shop and get them to check the block. If the sleeve is cracked it's possible the black may have been fracked too at which point it really is just a giant paperweight good for a coffee table

"The crankshaft is perfectly functional and very strong, so you would be looking into rods and pistons and someone to repair the damaged seat and guide on the one cylinder head. The tricky part will be replacing the sleeve."

That's all well and good but did they check the block for cracks? It's almost impossible to know if the block is good until you pull the sleeve out of it. As I said darton and erl can point you in the right direction there

If you intend to sell it, other than for a "core," I'd say no. If you build that up and it detonates in somebody's engine bay at high speed, you'll have lawyer friends who really don't have your best interest in mind.
Just my never-to-be-humble opinion. Do as you will.

the sleeves are actually pretty easy to get out. If you heat the block to 250 degrees the sleeves almost fall out. I also have an ls7 block that had a small sleeve crack that when the stock sleeves removed revealed a crack in the block. if i could get 800 bucks out of it i would be over joyed.
