Will there ever be a HU that will completely fill the space the factory unit takes up or is it impossible due to standardized double din measurements?

Is everyone liking the Kenwoods more than the Pioneer units?

Thanks

I hear ya, me too. A little younger at 50. My goal is to simply make the car more comfortable and modernize it. I'd have a new GS or Z for those reasons, but damn..... I just love this car. I can't get rid of it. Over the winter I'll be 'down powering' it too, to make it funny to drive when it isn't full throttle.... LOL...

I did nothing with the roof, and I know that will help some more. I also didn't put the vinyl on doors. That will help, but it's a royal PITA to install it on the doors.

The Kenwood HU's have many great options, features, and an excellent nav system. But like I said, pathetic memory interface. My pickup's OEM bose system is better. Pick your poison.....

I got my stuff from Dennis at DoubleD mods and he recommended the Kenwood 9902S. A bunch of pictures from my install including forward and rear camera in my thread here:

I'll tell you about one of my last drag/road race stories which is about 35 years ago. I built a engine for my friends 1970 Z28. We were all at a gin mill 3 towns away at last call. Two guys in the group were arguing who's car was faster. One had a 67 Chevelle SS 427 and the other had a 70 Chevelle SS 454. They decided the only way to solve the whole thing was to race home. The race was 3 exits north on the highway then about 4 miles on a secondary road to a coffee shop. First one to the shop wins. I was flag man and had the Z28. They took off like a bat out of hell. I hopped back into the Z with a brand new engine. I got off at the first exit and back roaded it to the coffee shop and was sitting on the hood of the Z when the first car arrived. The first guy was so worked up about beating the second guy that he did not even remember I was flag man and beat them both to the finish line.

I was intending to convey that it made no significant difference in road noise. The only small benefit it had was a _minor_ reduction in center console temperature. It is definitely not worth gutting the interior.

The little bit of research I did seems to indicate a lot of problems with the Kenwood HU's. Glad you guys are happy with yours, but I think I'm leaning toward Pioneer now...
