Default Battery ?

Looking to buy a new battery.
Can any of you tell me what you think is the best lightweight battery for a 07 Z06. If possible I would like to hear from members who have had experience with them and give me there opinion and model number of battery.
Your help would be most appreciated.

Thanks E

My suggestion is to get on your local parts store website, whoever you prefer....autozone, oreilly's, etc, put in your car, go to batterys, and it will show you which one(s) will fit. Not sure about a "lightweight" battery. Or go to Wally World and get one. Just take your old one with you or they will charge you a core charge.

Get a AC Delco. The proper one for the car and it will fit. A battery lift strap also. Keep a battery maintainer on it and it will work for many years. I've had great luck with AC Delco's over the years. Hell, I got one in my '67' which I bought in 2001 and it still load test's great. I'm not a big believer in these special yellow/red top or wally-world batteries. Sorry just ranting and putting in my 2 cents.

You are the member I have been waiting to hear from. How long have you been running the braille?
Also has it ever failed to start your car?
I want to lighten the weight of my car but not if I might be left with a no start.
The AC Delco is a 600 CCA The Braille B2015 is 425 CCA
I don't want to sacrifice reliability for less weight.

Thanks for your helpful Information...........E

Im using a braille 3121 and it does not last when driven daily. I have it on a ctek trickle charger otherwise it won't go more than a week of driving with multiple start up's.
I'm curious about the gu1r. I have heard good things about volt phreaks and lithium max as well.

If you're not concerned about weight, get the Odyssey PC1200MJT. Fits with the stock retainer, too.

Reducing weight is a good thing but isnt the battery in the rear for the same reason the transmission is there .....weight distribution?

I would like to think all of you for your help on this.
It has been very helpful.

You are right about the battery in the rear and weight distribution.
Not trying to P U Off. But I have never been a fan of heavy cars or heavy women.
This is the only car I am cutting weight on. Going to try an get it under 3000 Lbs and see how it corners.

Have a Braille lithium GU1R for a year now. If car sits for a week battery voltage drops from 13.40 to around 13.36. Not critical as it will still crank like a mother. But I like to keep it full so I'll put the charger on and it only takes 20 minutes to get it back fully charged.
As far as rear weight I've removed 180 lbs so far and with the 6lb battery it's 90 lbs both front and rear so weight distribution is still stock.

Autozone Gold series battery.
Some of the best batteries you can buy for 90% of applications.
If its a street car, in our opinion, stay as far away from the redtops as you can. Alot like them but take it from a shop that normally keeps 23 plus vettes/z06's. The redtops and yellow tops get pushed around alot more than the AC delco's or the general auto parts store battery's.

How are you getting these 13 plus voltages? A fully charged battery should show 12.6 volts. Where are you getting your readings from?

The Auto Zone Gold series also has the connector for the OEM vent to the outside. Very important when the battery is inside the passenger compartment. It also comes with an excellent warranty that you can get serviced across the country if you happen to be on a road trip and have trouble.

I don't shop at there stores because there nearest store is 20 something miles an in another town. You have made a good point on failure.

When I researched this several months ago, nothing beat an Autozone battery. Fits nice, cost is nice, and warranty is nice. AC Delco are overpriced and don't come with a 5 year warranty anymore. The battery sits in a box in the trunk, it doesn't matter what it weighs or looks like.. it just needs to start the car and charge during normal driving.

That chart is for a lead-acid battery. Lithium runs higher. My meter is good because I use it to check the original lead-acidbattery which is sitting in the garage hooked to a battery tender and it reads 12.6 volts.
