Default best spark plugs for stock LS7

Now that the car has 50k miles and it has original spark plugs I want to put some new ones in this weekend. Car has rough idle that smooths out above 1,000 rpm. I assume its just old junk plugs. Car still pulls hard in every gear. But at stop lights it shakes slightly. I see at the parts store it says OE is iridium. is this necessary? Why cant I run an NGK TR6 like I do in my LS2 car? I see no reason why i need to spend $8.50 per spark plug when TR6 for $2 work great in my camaro and my trailblazer SS with LS2 engine. Are the threads any different? I assume a TR6 would thread right in. I am new to the LS7, chime in with what you guys opinions are. I'd like to get this done on the weekend.

Also, I found in one post someone said run .050" gap, but OE says .040".

Stock

If spending an extra $40 on plugs every 50k miles is an issue, you got the wrong car. Sell it now and get out because that is just about the cheapest maintenance item on the car.

I'd just prefer a TR6 because then I can spray it 75-100 shot and still be fine like I do on my trailblazer SS. I've never used iridium plugs and I am unfamiliar how they work. I find it hard to believe they work better than a standard NGK. Just looking for opinions from people who have used different kinds. The money isnt the issue clearly..... It just seems to be a waste of the money lol.

I assume the MSD 32819 8.5mm plug wires will work that i use on both my camaro and my LS2 trailblazer right? they look the same length as the LS7. Gonna order those in a min if they do fit LS7 cars.

MSD makes just about the worst wires. AC delcos are far superior.

Yes iridiums do work better.

Having just placed an order for all my parts for a H/C/I/E install and the MSD wires were on that list this makes me uneasy.

Why are these wires the worst? What is better (if any) than the stock AC Delco? Should I just re-use my stock wires? They have 77K miles on them.

No, buy new stock wires if you want less problems down the road.

msd = inferior quality, more prone to failure

I have had MSd wires on my LS2 car and my stroker motor LS in my race car before with no issues. I only switched to Firecore on the race car because I pull the plugs every pass and the MSD wires wear out fast going on and off constantly. I havent heard much bad about MSD until now. Maybe its a corvette issue. I've never owned a LS7 car until last week.

I figured new ones would be needed. I'll have to grab some stock wires and return the MSDs when they arrive.

Just what I wanted, more headaches with parts.

What plugs did American heritage recommend?

Ok, those are prolly the TR6IX (3689) plugs. That's the $8 ones I looked at. Looks like i will be going with those unless someone has a better idea.

Katech recommended the stock plugs for my h/c/I car that's not road raced. They said they would go one step colder if road racing.

Any of them will be fine.

I've ran autozone, taylor, delco, msd and now firecore.

Would rank them as
Firecore
Delco
Taylor
Autozone
MSD

The MSD just fail more than others. No reason to spend extra when amazon has new AC delcos for $50 shipped.

Tr6IX are fine, or just OEM delco iridiums. TR6 are fine too if you want, but may cause charging issues, warnings. I don't see a need to cheap out.

I run TR8IX and Firecores now. Ran just about every combo (besides brisk plugs).

Brisk silver plugs are excellent too and should be looked into if you want to be different.

For either stock or head/cam applications we recommend NGK TR6GP (platinum plugs).
We keep them in stock and ready to ship if anyone needs them.

I just find this hard to believe because I've drove a ton of base C6's with the 6.2 and they idle smooth. Ls7 shouldn't be shaking the car. Anyone else notice their factory zo6 shakes at idle more than normal cars do?
