2009 z06 owners only
So as to not **** everyone off on the forum I'm only asking 09 Z06 owners to respond.
Yes I'm new and I have done a search and like most say there are hundreds of threads on this topic. So it's 2 simple question that don't need elaborate answers and since they only produced a little under 3500 09 Z06 there probably isn't a ton of owners on here.
So here goes:
Did you have your heads checked and if so what was result.
Yes/no for the first question
Good/bad for the second one.

Yes I've seen how helpful and nice you are to people who ask a question you guys think has been answered before.
Trust me I looked at all your helpful threads.
They go from OMG don't drive the car until you have them checked to go out and drive it and don't worry. Read them you don't' know whether to **** or get off the pot. So excuse me for trying to narrow down a select group as to make a better choice then what your suggesting.
Bummer that your living up to the reputation as all vette owners are douche bags...

You've also managed to make my highly selective and short "Ignore" list. I recommend that the others put you on theirs also.

It does not matter what year the LS7 is, you check your guide wear.
Your engine is no different then any other year. Less 13's that had rod bearing issues.
Early LS7's tend to have exhaust guides out and later tend to show more intake.
Year specific questions like yours are meaningless in this case.

Year makes no difference...its an LS7 thing, so C6Z's of all years, 427 Verts, Camaro Z28's. You get the idea hopefully.
Having said that; my C6Z is a 2009...early build 2009 at that. Last year, I took the car to AHP to have an inspection done. With 15,000 easy street miles on the car, 14/16 valve guides were beyond GM service limits, and the remaining two were right at the limit. I had a GMPP warranty at the time, and AHP is an authorized GMPP repair facility. The car sat for a few days until the GMPP claims adjuster could come to inspect the car, and AHP's findings were validated. I went with AHP's package #4 heads, and paid for the following upgrades...MoldStar90 guides (best material available IMO), PSI 1511 beehive springs w/Ti retainers, and CHE trunion bushings for the stock rockers.
Just face it that you'll need to address the heads. Even if my OE heads tested within GM service limits, I would have given AHP the go head to do the rebuild anyways...I simply have ZERO FAITH that the OE stuff in the heads will last as long as the rest of the motor can. I wanted stock drivability with better than stock reliability...and that's just what I have now.

Yessir, the original heads were stamped 09, the replacements 12 and 13. Manufacture date didn't seem to make a difference, they were all worn out at 15,000 mi.

1st time: Yes, bad ?
2nd time: Yes, bad ?
Heads were checked 1st time at about 10K miles, dealer verified out of spec. New heads, valves springs via GM. Easy.
Heads checked again after 1st rebuild after several track weekends found to be out of spec. Rebuilt aftermarket.

I have an 09 as well. Sorry can't answer your question as I just went with PRC 265 heads without even checking the oem heads. I would do the same if I were you, don't risk the entire motor over 2-3k on replacement/fixed heads.

09Z I didn't have the heads checked. As soon as the warranty ran out last year I had the AHP's #4 package done. That was at 8K miles now at 10K . As others have stated, if you are out of warranty, get the valve guides fixed and save yourself a lot of worry.

09z06 30000 miles I bought a few months ago. My untrained wiggle test seemed out of spec for my liking. Pulled the heads two weeks ago, shipped to kohle at American heritage performance for fix. They are on the way back, hoping to have finished by weekend.

I had heads/cam/headers done to my 09 just before it went out of warranty with 30,000 on the clock. most of the valves were out of spec. I had been following the valve issue with the LS7 since it was first brought up on this Forum, I would not dare take a chance. On top of that I saw several blow at VIR and it was not pretty.

1. Yes, original heads checked (think around 18k miles).
2. Yes, bad. Replaced under warranty.
Abel Chevrolet/Buick in Rio Vista, CA did the work and they were great to work with!
