Default Katech Stage 1 Z06 SN# 95

This vehicle came in for a cylinder head repair and the customer decided to add a camshaft. We used the Torquer 116 cam because he only wanted the most mild of increases. It drives like stock and picks up some decent power without changing the factory exhaust manifolds. This car is a sleeper!

Stage 1 Z06 package
Katech Torquer 116 camshaft
Bronze valve guides
Katech Ti/Mo intake/exhaust valves
Katech C5-R timing chain
Katech Ti retainers
PSI 1511 springs
Halltech MF103 intake

Pretty much the same package I got from Katech back in May of last year except I added the ATI damper. Our numbers are pretty close - He's got a little more RWHP and I picked up slightly more torque at the wheels

Love it.

82 RWHP with a CAI and torquer 116 cam?! That's ~95hp at the crank? Are the mufflers and throttle body stock?

Impressive.

Were the heads additionally ported/polished and or milled? This kind of increase leads me to believe that I as well could benefit from a sleeper camshaft even if I want to stay with OE air intake and exhaust manifolds.

Yes. My thoughts exactly. Is that 82whp gain all cam and CAI or is there porting and a compression bump in the package?

Imagine, someone actually posts before/after numbers so we know there's an 82 HP gain.

Thanks. OP enjoy.

Per Katech's website, the Stage 1 package doesn't include porting - you get that at Stage 2.

All:

I just wanted to add (as the owner of this car) how great Jason and Katech was to work with. The knowledge and customer service have been well worth the cost - very highly recommended!

Waiting for some decent weather to pick up the car - love these Ohio / Michigan winters!!

I will add a post after I get a chance to drive it for sure (if I don't wrap it around a tree!.....20 degree pavement and road salt are certainly not Z06 friendly!)

Thanks again Jason - you guys are the very best! So glad you are fairly close to my home!

No porting or milling. The power came purely from the cam, Halltech intake and calibration.

All:

Finally made it up to Katech to pick up the car this morning, nice cold morning but clear at least. been looking forward to this all week - its always great to pick up your car after mods / improvements, but if you have never been to Katech I highly recommend a trip. There's eye candy everywhere - racing engines and Vette's everywhere.

The 116 cam is everything I had hoped it would be - very noticeable HP and torque gains, that GREAT cam lope at idle, and it remains every bit as drivable as it was stock.

I haven't got too crazy (yet), but on the interstate the additional performance is very noticeable. Throttle response is instantaneous and it seems to respond better in the lower RPM ranges now. As the RPM's rise, you can definitely feel it. The stock LS7 is already great above 3000, but now its even more smooth.

It's going to be fun to drive this spring for sure. So glad I made the investment - as I said before it was well worth it in every way.

I just wanted to thank Jason and Katech again - there is no one I would trust more, and this experience was everything I was told to expect and so much more. The facilities, people and experience there are so evident - and this car is amazing. Thanks again for everything!
