Default Upcoming build... couple questions

I'm planning on going to DRM in a few months and having them ship my heads to AHP for their #4 head package plus porting and stock tb porting, Callaway CAI, ported MSD, and BTR Stage 2 cam on a Cam Motion grind. I was set on AR headers but just found out about Hooker Blackheart LTs that I can get for $500 less with the x-pipe and cats than AR. Thoughts on the Hooker headers vs AR and any other parts of the build are encouraged...

Thanks, Jesse

They set the standard here, and its worth the extra money.

ARH headers are the gold standard...I wouldn't replace those with the Hookers. Said it in this thread...they look hideous IMO. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ghlight=hooker

The other thing to note is that they are a Tri-Y design. Pfadt has Tri-Y headers, and they seem to be a bit underwhelming in the results department.

I hear ya, but I was thinking Katech 116 at first and now pretty set on BTR 2-ish specs. I still want to maintain most of the driveability. Are those Kooks without the x pipe?

Thanks Outhouse. That's what I was almost certain of after being on this forum for the last couple years. I just wanted to make sure. What about BTR recommending one-piece hardened pushrods for the BTR2 over stock?

Who has the cheapest AR headers and catted x-pipe? I'm slowly starting to put my orders together. This is going to be 99% street at the moment but wouldn't mind embarrassing some C7Zs this summer. I hope the MPSSs can hold!

Is there any reason to not get 2" headers if I can get them for $50 more than the 1 7/8 headers? NA with a future HP around 550.

Thanks, Jesse

I run BTR and AHP recommended then.

Stock would not fit and you will have added spring pressure, don't skimp here.

What length? The 7.775" LS chromoly 5/16 diameter pushrods? Stock is 7.8" I believe.

I just talked with a guy at BTR and he said to most likely go with the 7.800 pushrods because I'm not milling the heads, just a cleanup pass. Running 91 octane

You have to measure to get proper pushrod length.

Thanks realcanuk. I'll just wait on those and have the shop take care of that.

The LS7 uses 3/8 diameter pushrods. The stock LS7 pushrods are 7.800".
We typically like to run 7.775" hardened 3/8 diameter pushrods in our in house builds. You can run the stockers but we like to lower the preload a little and put it more in the middle of the lifter travel.
We sell pushrods and can gey you the correct size with your head order. We offer free exchang (minus return shipping) if you end up wanting or needing to go with a different size.
