2006 Zo6 roof recall
Having just purchased this car how can I find out if this recall applies or has maybe been resolved before? Vin # 1G1YY26E965119244 Thanks.

You can check with a dealer to verify whether the work was performed.

It is a good idea to check on this. I have a 2006 Z06 that I purchased last year and the previous owner had the roof replaced due to a recall. I would think giving them the VIN # that they could pull it up.

Also be aware that there were actually 2 roof recalls. The first recall just added more glue to the roof and since that didn't work they issued another recall where they replaced the roof which was made out of a different material. Make sure they did the actual roof replacement and not just the first reglue recall.

I think recalls typically expire after 10 years, unless the argument can be made its a safety recall.

I would say the roof flying off would be a safety recall, especially if you happen to be following the vehicle when the roof came off. But from what I understand, there is no expiration date for any recall, but they may not enforce it after a period of time if the manufacturer goes out of business or they no longer make the part for the recall. So in this case the roof recall should still be able to be done if it hasn't already.

First recall was to add adhesive to the roof. Then, off the top of my head date wise..... but it was 2011 ( month could be wrong : )...They did a second recall which started in August of 2011. That recall was to remove and replace the roof panel completely with new panel and adhesive.Just a simple VIN search at any GM service department will tell you. Recall is safety related and open from what I have heard. They can't turn their back on flying roof panels as they can cause accidents for other motorists.
