Which brake pads to buy
Which brake pads are recommended...no racing of any kind, just normal street driving. Preferably something with the least amount of brake dust. Pads or padlets? Never changed pads on the Z06 before, so any helpful hints are welcomed.

Carbotech 1521's are great...or Powerstop z26 which get good reviews over in the C7Z forum. Neither will be a sacrifice over the OE pads, but will most definitely dust less than OE.

I wouldn't bother with the padlets- more of a PITA to change for no real benefit, and I think they cost a bit more. The Carbotech 1521s are a low dust pad that will work just fine for street use. They lack the initial bite of more aggressive pads but they do reduce dust by quite a bit.
There's a good sticky in the DIY section above which I've used as a guideline a couple times. Just make sure you have all the proper tools in hand before you start. It's not overly technical, so just take your time and be methodical. Watch brake fluid level as you go because when you put in the thicker new pads it'll displace more fluid into the master cylinder and it can overflow. Have a clean syringe handy to pull fluid out if you think that might happen. Check after you complete each corner.
Also, when you're done, don't forget to fire it up and pump the brake pedal to take up the slack created by pushing the pistons back in the calipers to make room for the thicker pads. You won't have a good pedal unless you do this before actually moving the car and bad things can happen.
Taking your time and cleaning the wheels while they're off should take you a couple of hours- rough estimate, since pace can vary for different folks. When reinstalling/retorquing the mounting bolts for the calipers, turning the steering wheel will give you better access to the bolt heads in front. Torque spec for lugnuts is 100 ft/lbs in a star pattern. Hope that helps.

Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

I've got 60K miles on my Centric Posi Quiet semi-metallic brake pads. Low dusting and great stopping power for the street, Best thing... under $120 for all 4 corners. I've still got quite a bit pad left but rest assured they'll be the next pad I'll buy when these wear out!!
BTW... I had the Hawk ceramics on my car before. They destroyed my rotors in 20K 100% street miles. My rotors after 60K miles with the Posi Quiets are still in great shape/

You don't need those expensive Carbotechs for street driving. Get the Hawk ceramics at your local auto parts store or Amazon. No pink fairy dust and they work great.

Disagree. The difference is night and day and the carbotechs are well worth it.

Carbotech 1521 pads are fine pads...........but expensive! and you get what you pay for.
I have Stoptech BBK front and rear. I use Cobalt pads on track, and use Stoptech "Street Performance" pads on the street AND for light track, like MSR Cresson. Street Performance pads are good for 1300 degres F, and are dirt cheap! Stoptech "Sport" pads are slightly more expensive, and slightly more track friendly (still NOT a "race" pad). both are cheap, excellent pads, especially for a car that is NOT track driven. I recommend them..........either one. They should be "burnished" or "bedded" per the directions on the Stoptech site.

I have those pads and they were $70 for all 4 corners, stopping from 120 down to 60 is actually really good for street pads. No wear on my rotors at all.
My only problem is the weekly dust, but for the ebay price its not really a big deal. They really do work great.

I used the Hawk pads. Called their guy there and he was helpful. He said the padletts were the way to go and to not go with the full size pad.
He gave me these numbers.....HB532 F 570 HPS $93.47 set
HB531 F 570 HPS $167.00 set
I got these from Amazon and it's been a while so the prices are probably higher now but they were much cheaper than anywhere else I could find.
The OEM pads were filthy dirty, you could wash your wheels every day. These are pretty much dust free. No squeel (Spelling?) or noise of any kind and the performance for the street is awesome. I wrote down the part numbers I have listed here some time ago and I'm not too sure if the part that reads 570 HPS really means anything but if you want to order them I'm sure you'll figure it out. Good luck.

Went with ceramics in my C5Z...what a mistake. Lasted about a month, and they went in the trash. Full ceramics have no business on a world class sports car...no bite, and way too harsh on the rotors. Sure, no dust...but nowhere near the stopping power of the OE pads.

I have an extra set of BNiB Powerstop Z26 pads I'd sell. I ordered one, got two. Pads work great with almost no dust. The only drawback is they are a little noisey after the car has sat for awhile. The first time you use the brakes on that drive, the noise is gone though.
EDIT - I sold my extra set to LMB-Z so they are no longer available.
