Default 18x12 Weld RTS rears on Z06 with base or smaller drag brakes. Anyone done it???

Well, I'm going crazy trying to figure this out so I'm hoping someone here has done it and can help me.

It seems like everyone runs 18x11 rears as that's the largest weld offers specifically for the Z06 rear because of the high pad height. I'm assuming the lower width and high pad height is necessary to clear the large rear brakes on the Z06 and Z51 vettes without sticking out from the rear quarters.

On my car... I have the 15" LG spindle conversion with Mark Carlyle's baby drag brakes out back. I have a set of 15x10 rears and alumastar 17x4.5 fronts for track use but I ordered a pair of 18x7 RTS fronts for the street and I'd like to order a set of 18" rears for street use as well. 18x11 is shown as the max width but I don't see why I can't run a lower pad height since I have the small brakes and go 12" wide with more lip.

Anyone done it??? I'm looking to run a 345/35/18 ET Street out back to keep it 28" tall. Figured the 11" wide rear might be a little tight for that. I asked Mark Carlyle (i ordered everything else I have from him) and he said 11 wide is the max weld will offer for a Z06. I've run 13 wides on the car a couple times in the past so I would think there's a way to play with the specs to make the 18x12 clear on the rear.

Lmk fellas!! Thanks!!

Anyone?

I'm told by some that 18x12 is possible with the low pad height and using more offset but from everything I've read by searching the forum, there wasn't an absolute answer to the 18x12's working as of a year ago. Some said yes and some said no but no one confirmed. I was hoping someone has done it since then that can chime in and confirm it for us. I'd really like to run 18x12 for the added width and for a little more lip if possible.

I'd call Weld directly and ask. Looking at the RTS fitment guide, they don't show anything larger than an 18x11. I've had 18x12 repros that fit stock brakes, so no reason why they can't make 18x12 that'll fit drag brakes.

I'll have to call them because those are my thoughts exactly. I've had 18x13 on this car and 18x12 so I don't see why 11" wide is the max when you can choose the pad height and customize the offset/backspacing.
