This has been looked into time and time again. There isn't even close to the market.

If you could get 200+ to prepay at $1k+ a pop, then they would look into it was about the response last time.

Went from a 3.31 to a 4.11 in my 69 Chevelle. No other changes and my 60ft went from 2.10 to 1.60. But a really good example of what a rear gear can do is a '55 Chevy with a stock 265 ci motor. They run 11 seconds but only 95 mph. Speed is due to horsepower which is around 300 but the 5.13 rear gear gives it the low et.

If you're changing the gears specifically for a drag setup with slicks, then that's a different story...but on the street, its gonna be spin city.

Years back, I had a H/C/I LS1 fbody that I swapped from 3.42 to 4.10. The car was no faster at the track, until I mounted a set of ET Streets. Then on the 3rd pass, the stock 10 bolt broke.

The 5th gen Z/28 needs shorter gears, because it is a heavy pig compared to the C6Z.

IMO, the only hope of getting Motive or Richmond to make a set of gears for the 9" axle was if the C7 continued use of it. Unfortunately, GM went with a ZF axle this time. I really don't see it happening at this point.

Like I said, this has been looked into time and time again, not no one will fund or run with the project because the need isn't there.

Simple solution is to add power until 3.42 is the right gear.

Gary2004Z06 has 4.10 gears in his Z06 that he got from RPM. He also has a sub 10 second run listed on our Fast List.

Yeah, I forgot which company said they were working on it...that was like 4 years ago.

No response from Richmond yet.

So after never receiving a reply from my initial inquiry (which I thought was odd), I sent a follow-up inquiry yesterday for the heck of it.

Today I received a reply from their VP of Performance Sales. I was told they are in fact currently working on 3.90 and a 4.11 set for the C6Z, and they estimate having test samples completed in the next 45 days. Samples will then be given to their test dealer for some run time prior to production. He estimates being 6-8 months away from production, but they also plan on releasing C7 gears at the same time.

Thats great news! Did he have a price? That will really make a cammed LS7 with CNC'd head, FAST intake, and a ported TB percolate getting the power to the ground.

No mention of price, but he did encourage me to check in at any time for progress updates...so I'll ask next time as to a projected price.

..now we just need to get DTE back on-board so RPM can't run the market.

On the Corvette transaxle, the pinion is hollow and the ID is splined. The transmission's tailshaft OD is splined to match the pinion's ID and serves as the pinion shaft within the differential.

The Camaro's pinion is constructed like a normal pinion with a solid shaft who's OD is splined to fit inside the u-joint yoke.

Great News - Way to Go!!!
I'm hoping they'll come available for my Thanksgiving time slot I just set upp for Katech? When you talk to them ask if these wil be available by Black Friday? A couple of things:
>Ask if they'll give an option to add cryogenic treatment with micropolishing.
Hmmm.. C5R axles - how do the C6-Z06 axles stack up to the C5R's??

I found this list of to-do;'s in the C5 section for high horsepower engines - they defined high hp at >500 hp.

1) Purchase and have installed the Dyno Tech Engineering Differential Strut and their heavy-duty L.H. output shaft.
2) Purchase and have installed the Breathless Performance Torque Tube Bushing Kit.
3) Purchase and have installed an Exedy dual-disc flywheel and clutch assembly.
4) Have your ring and pinion gear set Cryogenically treated and micro-polished.

In my build I was going with a ZR1 twin disc clutch later this year.

That run was 138 mph @ 9.874 secs with 28x11.50x16 Hoosier QTPs and some of the typical bolt-ons - most of which I'll be doing when I do Katech Stage 2 later this year.

This is one of the biggest developments of late for the C6-Z06; as simply adding 3.90 ring and pinion gears is gonna be the bee's knees...or 4.11's...choices, choices.

They may have some breakage issues due to the shrinking in size to fit a higher ratio.

I found just the opposite when I went from 3.31 to 4.11. The tires are turning less rpm and tend hook up quicker. Same effect when on snow. Keeping your tire rpm very low gives more traction. Or how about doing a burnout. Keeping the rpm up and you hardly need any front brake to keep from moving. Let the rpm drop and you'll roll right out.
