c6 z51 supercharged vs c6 zo6
if the c6 zo6 has 500 hp and 475 ib of torque and only weighs 100 pounds less than than my c6 and costs $75k and has no removable top wouldnt i have a faster car at a cheaper price if i added an aftermarked superchager (my brother in law has a c5 with a supercharger and a few bolt ons and his car was dyno tested at a little over 600hp to the flywheel not including his 150 shot on nos, with the nos it should be over 720hp) $5500 for the supercharger and $500 for the nos. so the question is z06 or aftermarked z06 smoker for less money?
if any one out there has heard of a supercharger for a c6 let me know

I was thinkking the same thing
This is what i would like to do to my z51 c6
Zo6 calipers and brakes
ATI Procharger ( When andy at a&A can tune them)
Kooks headders with corsa exhaust
Should keep up with the c6 z06

No question you could build a much quicker C6 with a blower for cheap. It's all the other stuff that makes the Z06 an out of the box all around racer that accounts for the cost.

Thinking the same here. I have a mint 2000 mag red coupe that would MAYBE bring, what, 26K if lucky. Add a procharger for $8K and I'm at $34K, or about 1/2 of a new Z. I do have a deposit on a new Z. I may have to have both because I will not give my C5 away!!
I'm not saying I think a C5 with a procharger, or whatever is equal to a new Z, but at 1/2 the price it does make me think..

It's not just about HP. You can probably take a Dodge Neon and mod it to outrun a C6 Z06 in a straight line, for less money. But at the end of the day, you've got a Neon.

You could beat it in a straight line for sure, but as others have said it is about much more than that.
The C6 Z is designed to be a factory race car, not a drag car.

You're going to have to do a suspension upgrade, significant brake upgrade, wheel and tire upgrade along with that power adder to get a little closer to the all around performance package. Certainly in a straight line a simple power adder will do the trick but as others have stated it is more about the all around road course performance. I would think the C5 Z06 would provide a better platform to upgrade than a C6 coupe would. Take a C5 Z06, rebuild the LS6 to a 427, that should get you some where around 500 rwhp n/a. Do some minor upgrades to the brake system, suspension and wheels/tires. Now you are probably pretty close and the C5Z06 is 3100 lbs. It looks a lot better too.

The problem for New STOCK C6 Z06 owners is that 99% of them never go to the road race track to use their cars superior features.
In real life situations, 99% of racing happens on the street, and it is stop light dragging or highway roll-on races.
There is no such thing as "street" road racing on American roads, if you try it, you will be going so fast so guick that you will have to back off or crash.
So the bottom line is that a highly modded C5 or C6 running drag radials will embarrass a STOCK C6 Z06 in 99% of street racing situations.
Sorry, but that is the way it is! I am plotting on getting my new C6 Z06 asap so this is not jealousy or bashing.
Obviously, if you highly mod your C6 Z06 and run drag radials also, then you will be a the top of the heap again.

Pull the heads on the new Z06 and have the intake/exhaust passages cleaned up/ported, slide in that cam any one of the vendors has been using to nail down mid 500rwhp numbers on 422/427 packages and throw some headers on it and you beat that C6 supercharged There is no substitute for cubic inches!!! Put the blower on a reduced compression LS7 as well, that will get your attention....
